I can help you with that, but first define “more deserving.”

younger, better performing, better starts, better potential with Father Time.

Discuss.

Name one rider you'd give the shot to that's realistic before Mookie....

Just one?

Marchbanks, Harrumph, Jordon Smith, Benny Bloss, Hampshire, Mitchel Harrison, Cornelius Tondel, and about a dozen others who have shown more heart and consistency with their finishes.

Only 1 of those guys is also a 250 champ like Mookie (RJ), none of them have a premier class win like Mookie, or even a premier class SX podium or even a top 5 indoors to their name.

Kenny, hunter, Webb, JCoop, Tomac, Sexton. That's who finished ahead of him indoors this year. None of those people were available.

Not a single one of those guys have won a 450 main. Most haven’t even podiumed in the 450 class, and only one has a title. I understand you’re looking at potential, but you’re not really basing your estimate on past performance.

In 2022, Malcolm finished 3rd overall in the 450 class; Benny Bloss finished 26th. Marchbanks finished 38th.

In 2025, Malcolm was 4th overall in the premier class. Bloss was a little better but still back in 15th. Harrison finished 20th, and Jordan Smith and RJ were still in the 250 class (at least RJ had his 2024 250 title).

I get where you’re coming from, but maybe you mean something other than the word “deserving.”

Hopefully Mookie saddles up on the 327 2 stroke this year. Bring a bit of blue smoke back to the Indoors. I rekon he would wipe the field on it. One last shot at the title.

How well has hiring top riders worked out for them the last 2 years? Why would any top rider WANT to sign with them right now? Why would you expect that to magically cure everything purportedly wrong with the org? Cleaning house with the management would set them back even further starting from ground Zero. There's no guarantee that would right the ship. They need to regain stability and not slide further into oblivion before they can become a top organization and compete with the top teams again. Kawi Corporate has made their decision- it's going to be this leadership until it isn't.

Mookie’s a pretty wise person it seems, so he should bring a little stability to their program, along with Marchbanks. Very consistent riders. (And he seems like he can handle Fahie). It’ll be nice seeing another Kawi in the mix.

Malcolm’s riding style should gel with this bike I think. He’s much more neutral than Chase. If h can find his way onto a couple podiums and many top 5’s that’ll be a win.

Unless they changed the rules, a 250cc limit on 2strokes for the 450 class.
It never made sense to me.

How cool would that be though 😎

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) first created the 250cc “two‑stroke” class in the open category in 1972, when the AMA Competition Congress adopted a rule change that unified the 250cc two‑stroke and 250cc four‑stroke classes under a single open‑class designation Cycle WorldCycle World.

Trivia question, What 4 stroke MX bikes prompted them to make this rule in 1972 ?  A CCM 600 ?  Was ATK around yet ?  Seems like a rule that's beyond ready for a rewrite. 4 stroke technology has advanced just a little since then.  They're constantly updating and changing their rulebook, but that one's been the same for 54 years ?
