The lost MX vs ATV reflex source code...

It seems it is possible. If someone can decompile the code, they'd have the source code, and be able to modify anything from there.

We just need a Moto enthusiast, with time and and the skills to do it.

Or at the rate AI is moving, give it another 2 years and everyone will be building their own games lol

Where's Stephane Roncada? He helped build the original code, if I remember correctly.

People have been able to clone múltiple closed source softwares like Adobe, Microsoft Office by using AI, the job that might have taken engineers years without AI has just Been undercut, makes you wonder how much this technology can evolpe and if AI has crossed the line of "helping humans do the work" and not "does the job the humans cannot do", if It has already crossen that line... We might have reached the peak of humanity, where we have created Something even smarter than the smartest specie on earth.

Code can be decompiled, but that doesn't mean that you end up with the original source code that can be easily modified.

If the code was originally compiled with optimizations enabled (which is usually the case for releases), many functions are inlined to save the overhead of a function call and all class, function, and variable names are lost.

The order of instructions are also changed.

Optimized code is difficult to debug even with original source code.

You end up with with code that theoretically builds to the same binary executable, but is not easy to use, or even understand.

Ai may be helpful in figuring out renaming the elements, and inserting comments, but at this point it makes plenty of mistakes.

My point is that it's nowhere near as easy as it seems.  There's good reason why it takes a long time for these teams to get everything working after initial decompilation.

I can almost guarantee that the code and entire project exists on one of the developers' machines, backups or archives.

But it's copyrighted, so we need to push the owner to create a sequel, or create one that's better.  I don't see how decompiling/reverse engineering can result in a game that we all can play.

FWIW I liked the physics of Reflex, Mx2002, and Ricky Carmichael's Mx game on PS1.

Yes, reflex is hands down the best bike physics of all. They should do a remaster.

Still play reflex. My son is top 10 most tracks. The things you can do in that game from beginner to pro and beyond. The whip gliche takes it too another level also.

You can still generally hop on almost any time and find someone to race. I am getting steam invites all the time and I have had a little break.

The debate in the house about another elite game is Untamed or unleashed. I personally Love mx unleased soo much. Even though it came out before untamed, for some reason it is more polished. The preload. landings that make you crash etc all so predictable. Untamed I found you have these random poggo stick preloads. Also landings that just randomly crash.

Also on the topic of unleashed. To get those crazy lap times, you can madskills alot of supercross tracks.

I think you are remembering incorrectly. I think Roncada was apart of the rehash like 5-10 years ago, not the original game.

He’s been listed in the credits for a while. He’s been in there since ATV Offroad Fury.
