This has been beat to death as of late. Two main contributing factors, we’re soft and other countries caught up. I will say I’m by far one of the biggest 38 haters there is but right now he’s the only young American guy that really has grit. Which is wild to me because growing up a rich kid he should have every reason not to. Some Americans are really bothered by the fact we’re getting beat on our own soil. Personally I don’t really care what flag you fly unless it’s MXDN. The rest of the time I just want to see amazing riders doing amazing shit on dirt bikes I can only dream of doing.

If a rider who runs away from facing the GP boys every year is seen as the best example of american "grit", then it's easy to see where the problem is.

The 3 guys who stepped up for the US this year are the ones who have grit.

There are too many excuses and too much entitlement when it comes to Team USA these days. When I was a kid it didn’t matter who was on Team USA they turned up with full belief that they were the best and they wouldn’t accept anything other than winning (which they normally did)

Thankfully there are still a few American riders who understand what this race is all about

How does Norway do so well in the winter Olympics for such a small country? How does the USA do so well in the winter Olympics when al it's people are poisoned by the food water and vaccinations?

As for MXdN, in the 80s the Americans were just better at riding. A lot of this came about because of the surge of motorcycling in the 70s among the boomer youth combined with harder times in Europe and a significant negative influence of Soviet Russia. The 90s and early 2000s saw some weird logistical issues but the US riders were still the best. The late 2000s and 2010s saw the Ryans put on a clinic. Since then the European and Pacific riders have taken a step up to match and exceed US riders.

I don't have a lot of confidence that the leaders of the US MX industry (not the promotors) will be righting the ship anytime soon though.

Those medals include figure skating, which is a judged event (not a sport).

That's funny 3stroke because Norway won almost all their medals in ski races and the US won a lot of medals in judged skiing boarding and skating competitions. Alysa Liu was criticized for being too big since she stopped extreme dieting for her comeback to skating.

If you want to be a world class athlete you are going to have to lay off twinkies and fries no matter where you live. JT hasn't had a soda in 10 years simply because he loves representing tight shirt American spirit!

Not to backtrack, but Cooper Webb’s videos are on point for the mxon and Fastcross. I’ve never been a fan of him but that’s changed over the last several weeks.

Maybe the USA could develop talent if we had e-dirtbike parks?
