Hey guys, my daughter is turning 12 in January so I’ll be taking her off of her 65 since there’s no race class for her at that point. I’m looking to get her a Husqvarna TC85 and I’ll be putting the lowered seat on it from the Husqvarna parts catalog. She is very short, only 4’3” and 60LB soaking wet.
I’m looking to lower the bike 1”. Has anyone here done this or have experience with it? I’m not opposed to doing the race tech spring conversion to the forks if that makes things easier. This is a bike we plan to keep for a while, so I want to do it right. My son will inherit this bike at some point whenever he ages out of the 65 class.
Thanks guys.

Find a local suspension shop to do it.
It’s possible, but I’m not sure anyone makes a shortened damper rods for the 85s aer43 cartridge like I’ve seen for the aer35 on the 50/65. Your only option may be to get a conversion and then you can use spacers and cut the spring tube to correct preload.
I think you need to permanently modify the air side. There should be plenty of cartridges out there cheap from people tossing the air fork internals. That is if you even care to return to air
My daughter is similar, raise the forks and softer pressure / rear spring. They adapt well.

Thank you guys for all of the input. I have ordered a low seat for the bike. She turns 12 in January. I’m going to make sure she eats all her vegetables until then. If I end up lowering the bike? I’ll report back with what route we use.
If she is 11 on January 1, she will be "AMA 11" for the year 2027. Eligible for 65 7-11 and 65 10-11 classes. At least in the states....
Wow, I had no idea about this clause. I just verified this with a buddy who knows more about the AMA rules than I do. This is a saving grace for my tiny little girl. Thank you for sharing this!
I wondered..... My son was in that exact situation this year.
I’m super thankful, money has been tight and I was dreading buying another bike right now.
