no meltdown, but you dangerboyz sure get your panties in a wad at any mention of him you think is not worthy of his 3rd place finishes

He doesn't sell them, he just sits on his ass behind the parts counter all day.

You’re exactly right that it’s a business, but you are showing your ignorance in everything else you’ve been saying. What is the primary goal of a business?  It’s to make a profit.

Yamaha’s number one objective is to sell their products. When Deegan wins races, and when Deegan wins titles, and when Deegan brings in outside interests into the sport, he is bringing more exposure to Yamaha, which in turn increases sales.

It’s why Yamaha or any other brand puts ads in magazines or pays for commercial space when you watch the races. They’re basically saying, “Look at our bike, it is a championship winning bike. Go buy one.”

Yamaha didn’t hire Deegan for the hell of it. They hired him to win races and titles and bring exposure to their brand to increase sales. It’s not a hard concept to grasp.

THAT'S GREAT.....show me how that correlates to bike sales. i'll give you a hint - it doesn't.

the sport needs new riders but it isn't getting them. therefore bike sales are not increasing.

believe it or not, the ball sports are suffering the same thing just at a less noticeable rate. less kids playing high school sports today.....sad

Profit isn't necessarily the goal of a business.  They need money to get people to do things, but making money isn't the de facto goal.

Plenty of companies have not been profitable, from USPS to UBER.

I would not be surprised if the big 4 Japanese motorcycle mfgrs have business strategies looking many generations into the future.

You think USPS and Uber are profitable?   Or that their goal is to be profitable?  Curious where we disagree here

ok but last time......Uber reported a $10B profit in 2025 (yes with a Cool . Their goal is definitely to be profitable. The USPS is a quasi-governmental agency that has no hope in hell of being profitable.

Do you guys think Chevy and Ford sell more cars because of NASCAR??...lol. It's all about advertising to keep the brand aware to the masses.

big auto execs figured out in the late 60s/early 70s that win on Sunday/sell on Monday was a fallacy. their market research proved that didn't happen. this is the reason they shut down the factory teams and moved to a support model. they still like racing, they just didn't see a correlation to sales (and still don't).

you can apply this to motorcycles, snowmobiles, atvs. bicycles, airplanes, and submarines. some here will still think there's an exception for the dangerboy or his sister dangergirl.....

I am not sure if he sells more Yamaha’s, but what I do know is the younger generation associates motocross with Deegan and Deegan with Yamaha. This is a fact…

My son is in grade school and kids are wearing Deegan t-shirts, kids who don’t race (but they have dirt bikes)..My son insisted on wearing his Deegan t shirt the first day of 6th grade this year…

That being said he’s not bugging me to buy a YZ85— actually wants a another KTM..

KTM dealer and had a kid come in with his mom wanting a Yamaha like Deegan. Since the local Yamaha dealer rarely keeps dirt bikes we were the only place to go. He had no idea who any other pro mx racers were including Jett. It was actually an eye opening conversation. So we are a Fox dealer we started stocking Deegan tees and gear. This is very antidotal but I’m going to say he does move the needle. But the goat for selling motorcycles is absolulty Dungey. No one rider ever did for a brand what he did for KTM.

There doesn’t need to be an exception for Deegan. Do you think Honda is paying Jett millions of dollars for nothing?  Wins and titles = exposure. Increase in  Exposure = increase in sales is the formula they are going for.

If, Brand Exposure = Sales,

and Racing = Brand Exposure

then:  Racing = Sales

Winning and Racing are different things.

Someone gets it... They learned it isn't exactly "what wins on Sunday sells on Monday". The exposure is everything as new riders will be influenced by bike color more than anything.  Racers themselves are educated enough to pick the bike that works for them, is on sale or has rebates, and make the bike their own with suspension etc.  I am sure Hayden has "influenced" a few units sold for sure. But overall, we didn't see the shift with any of the other stars in years past when they swapped machines at the height of their respected careers.  Conclusion? Who gives a bakers foook

Yea no crap. Everyone races to win. However, a ceo of a corporation such as Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, etc, are not sinking money into racing just for passion. A ceo’s job is to make the company money. Let’s say Honda completely pulls from all racing, they’d see a huge hit in motorcycle sales because there is therefore no brand exposure. Makes them irrelevant. Out of sight out of mind, people won’t know how the bikes are without it being raced and having brand ambassadors.

You will be hard pressed to find any corporation sink money into anything without having ran the numbers and making sure they profit in the grand scheme.

You keep mentioning Bobby Regan. He’s not a corporation. He a car dealership owner with a passion.  These are very very very different situations. Bobby doesn’t have shareholders to appease

Educate us then. It seems like you’re the only person arguing this right now. You seem to have a great understanding in how a corporation works. Let’s hear all about it
