You cant really paint a tank properly as far as i know, cause it breathes and the gas vapors will bubble the paint. Plastic kits and decals are so cheap and last much better for MX bikes so I personally wouldn't bother.
But if you enjoy the process, why not. I would skip the tank though

Like you, I’m finding the entire thing a bit hard to believe.
I've dyed a few parts with rit dye, it does work and seems to hold up good, would love to do a full set of plastics one day. The dye did start to fade after a while, but not terrible, but that was probably my piss poor dye job.
Time to get to sanding. UPS dropped this off about 10 pm last night (WTF really?).
