Vurb reposted the video of Dungey ripping through the corn field today -- I can't believe that video is 9 years old. His lit kit holds up, and I noticed that he was wearing Oakley Airbrakes. I did a quick search, and it turns out that Airbrakes were first released in 2013. In 2026, they seem basically unchanged. Oakley has evolved their goggles for snow well beyond the Airbrake model, but us moto guys are still getting the same tech from 13 years ago. Not even a 48mm strap upgrade to keep up with the competitors.
Don't get me wrong, I still love and wear my Airbrakes, but why haven't we seen any evolution?
Some updates wouldn’t hurt, but they’re still better than all the other goggles on the market.
And the molds or however they make them should be well beyond paid for, so they shouldn’t be so expensive still. I actually prefer the front lines over the airbrake personally.
I thought the front line was the successor to the airbrakes. I remember Herlings wearing them for a short period of time when they first released in like 16/17?

I think you’re right. They have the wider strap and a greater FOV than the Airbrake. No quick-change lens system, but it’s straightforward enough. Weird that Oakley didn’t market them more. Tyler Bereman is the only rider I can remember wearing them.

I don’t see what they need changed. I love mine, and would not change a thing.
Have you ever been in an Oakley store, like absolutely nothing in there store that promotes mx or sx and why did they quit making watches?

YES, if you live in the PNW they are a non starter for anything other than motocross. 10 seconds of not moving and they instantly fog up outside of summer. Otherwise they are the best...

Just seemed odd to me that a company as big as Oakley hasn’t updated their flagship model in over a decade (insert RM-Z joke here).
I’m still rockin my Tomac airbrakes from many moons ago. New lenses every season and they are good to go. Still the best fitting goggle I’ve got in the arsenal.

Only goggles that don’t push into my nose and suffocate me while I ride hah!
Same problem in Indiana but pretty much year round.
