Whats people thoughts who have been to both, this and foxhills
I have never been to hawkstone, as it's 4 hrs drive, it did cross my mind, but thought foxhills would be hard to be beat from spectators pov.
It wasn't as good. Less busy and quite poorly run. Practice/Qualy didn't finish till gone mid day Saturday. 2 Blocks of racing was never on the cards, so everyone only got 1. Sunday was the opposite and everyone got 2, 4 lap dash races. No practice, no sight lap, it was all wrapped up around 1pm.
The constant rain put a dampener on things Saturday, but the racing was still good. Ronnie Mac was actually very entertaining and genuinely made me laugh with some mid race air wheelies (impressive off rutted/rough hawkstone jumps).
First one i have missed, they decided to not Livestream it this year so took the opportunity to have a weekend catching up on other stuff.
Weather is nobodies fault, we had no rain for 19 weeks prior to Foxhill last year, this year it rains for the first time in months.
If it had been anywhere else, it would have been a wash out, just like day 1 2 years ago.
On to Farleigh Castle now for the 'Original Event' next weekend. The Venue just works better for this event, IMO , for viewing and everything else.
Foxhills felt alot 'looser' in terms of party atmosphere. However the Hawkstone track definitely raced better, especially with the weather.
It did feel a little like the organizing club is a bit more 'fuddy duddy', with constant reminders to not act like idiots, go home before 8pm on Sunday etc. I'd like to see a dry event to see it with the numbers abit higher and the racing a bit closer.
I'll support the event regardless because i just love those old 2 strokes!!

The organising club grasp the concept that people shouldnt just turn up and like the dickheads they were in 1995. I dont think that is controversial.
Close racing at Hawkstone in this format is less like likely than at Foxhill, where there has been some great battles in the last few years.
Tommy Searl was on it to hold off JMart . Good to see GB win for the many fans there, that toughed out the rain . When is this race going to be in other countries ?
