Based on what evidence?

Your first sentence really tells the truth to this story.
How about multiple witnesses who have no dog in the fight except to report the truth?
Vital doesn’t need evidence to make a judgement.

When a criminal pleads not guilty it means he is innocent until proven guilty. That means that the prosecution carries the entire burden of proof.
So far, no proof has been offered that Deegan wanted start money, just speculations and assumptions.
It's on point with the way he expresses himself publicly, but his reply to the question on page 1 sounds genuine to me.
Star can't make money racing. They aren't selling a product. PC can at least try to recoup some of their expenses by retail sales. What all the teams can do is build in MXoN into their seasons budget. If they aren't picked at least they can start the next year with a surplus.
Why does it never seem to be a problem for KTM group? It seems like if the Lawrence Bros. want to go Honda rolls out the red carpet. Mitch is sending Levi, Honda sending Chance and Tedder with Coop, the Real Captain America, so how can Star/Yamaha not swing it?
Who are these witnesses?
Good point... of course Star can send, they can afford... but it's like with your personal or family budget, if you are not really keen on something you don't want to spend... if I don't want a new Sofa, I tell my wife I feel it's expensive... if I (and her) want a new boat, suddenly I have the budget
If Deegan really had wanted to got, for sure there would have been budget... but it's a prioritisation on what you want and feel...
Same thing with Davies! With him and Deegan both not going. No excuse to not represent your country for no compensation.
I feel Star covering up for Deegan ruined the opportunity for guys who were willing to go or were about to get selected by their National federations, like Minear. It was very clear the MA wanted Minear on the MX2-spot of their team.
To be fair to Star, the would have possibly been on the hook for 4 if they all wanted to go. Davies, Minnear, J-coop and Rat-bastard.
Thats well more than any other team.
Do I think they still bitched out, oh yeah. Do I think Deegan bitched out, oh super yeah. Just be honest, "I don't wanna go, I'm not fast enough yet. I haven't figured the bike out properly yet. And my ego is too fragile to get smoked by so many"
To be fair, this thread IS about Deegan and his denial of the rumors that he wanted $100k start money to race the des Nations… nothing to do with Cole at all.
History tells you the type of people the Deegans are…
All evidence points to the fact that they are a family of greedy image obsessed opportunists and as far from core as possible. Past behavior and current behavior is the only thing we have to go on… and all of it points to guilty…
Youd have to be home schooled by incestuous hillbillies to come to any other conclusion
Davies can’t go to MXdN even if he paid out of his own pocket: New Zealand announced long ago that they were not attending this year, and you can only race MXdN under your country’s governing body.
one thought may be that Star has too many riders they are paying.
Always a good shot at winning titles when a 1/4 of the riders are under your awning.
Not a bad thing though as its always good to see many riders have the opportunity.
Im pretty confident in believing that Monster would be more than happy to help out as they’d like to see their riders represented as well on the world stage.
But then again, 31 races in 52 weeks is a lot, then adding on another 5 of the WSX doesnt leave many weekends available.
