If a trial was held as to whether or not he demanded to be paid, and all witnesses put on the stand under oath, Hayden Deegan would be found guilty on all counts by a jury of his peers.

Based on what evidence?

Going directly to the source for the answer doesn’t mean the source will be honest… especially when the source would suffer in the eyes of the fan if his answer was ‘yeah I ain’t representing USA unless you pay me…’

So all he did was give the answer he is incentivised to give…  and then tried to add some bullshit about being worried about his team spending money… right after he tells a story about his private flights….

It doesn’t make any sense to believe him… how are you so gullible…

Your first sentence really tells the truth to this story.

How about multiple witnesses who have no dog in the fight except to report the truth?

Vital doesn’t need evidence to make a judgement.

When a criminal pleads not guilty it means he is innocent until proven guilty. That means that the prosecution carries the entire burden of proof.

So far, no proof has been offered that Deegan wanted start money, just speculations and assumptions.

It's on point with the way he expresses himself publicly, but his reply to the question on page 1 sounds genuine to me.

This answer is so inconsistent. First and foremost, all teams are operating at loss and financed through sponsorshipsto be able to run. Racing itself is a marketing cost for OEMs. Ask ML how much money he made on his team.

He can request to see Star P&L statements to prove if there are "making any money". It would have better if he just said racing is expensive and Star did not budgeted for this race thus can't afford it.

Star can't make money racing. They aren't selling a product. PC can at least try to recoup some of their expenses by retail sales. What all the teams can do is build in MXoN into their seasons budget. If they aren't picked at least they can start the next year with a surplus.

Why does it never seem to be a problem for KTM group? It seems like if the Lawrence Bros. want to go Honda rolls out the red carpet. Mitch is sending Levi, Honda sending Chance and Tedder with Coop, the Real Captain America, so how can Star/Yamaha not swing it?

Good point... of course Star can send, they can afford... but it's like with your personal or family budget, if you are not really keen on something you don't want to spend... if I don't want a new Sofa, I tell my wife I feel it's expensive... if I (and her) want a new boat, suddenly I have the budget Smile

If Deegan really had wanted to got, for sure there would have been budget... but it's a prioritisation on what you want and feel...

Same thing with Davies! With him and Deegan both not going. No excuse to not represent your country for no compensation.

I feel Star covering up for Deegan ruined the opportunity for guys who were willing to go or were about to get selected by their National federations, like Minear. It was very clear the MA wanted Minear on the MX2-spot of their team.

To be fair to Star, the would have possibly been on the hook for 4 if they all wanted to go. Davies, Minnear, J-coop and Rat-bastard.

Thats well more than any other team.

Do I think they still bitched out, oh yeah. Do I think Deegan bitched out, oh super yeah. Just be honest, "I don't wanna go, I'm not fast enough yet. I haven't figured the bike out properly yet. And my ego is too fragile to get smoked by so many"

As it’s not an excuse for Deegan not racing!

I’m Mentioning Davies in this thread because almost every thread on here turns into a thread about Deegan….

To be fair, this thread IS about Deegan and his denial of the rumors that he wanted $100k start money to race the des Nations… nothing to do with Cole at all.

History tells you the type of people the Deegans are…

  • Brian plays dress ups to fool foolish fans into thinking he’s ‘core’ while shitting on the actually ‘core’ Pastrana.
  •  Brian monitizes his kids from the moment they can ride a bike
  • Brian cheats in 65s
  • Brian strongarms a teenager at Lorettas  to avoid Haydens cheater bike from being claimed
  • Hayden thanks a rapist on the podium
  • Hayden backs out of team America.
  • Hayden backs out of team America.
  • Hayden backs out of team America.
  • Hayden agrees to be on team America when it’s in America — breaks his wrist in a loser move.
  • Does zero off season races until WSX pays him
  • Team hires additional test riders to try and get hayden comfortable
  • Yet hayden backs out of team usa citing ‘saving the ream money’
  • Star sends out a press release claiming they need to give their techs time to recover…
  • Aaaaand a week later Deegans going to WSX for start money… i wonder if any of those techs are going??
  • Hayden is asked about start money - laughs and fumbles around awkwardly like the most guilty shmuck ive ever seen. Denies it and Yamaha PR ends the interview…
  • Brian re introduces Metal Mulisha — which is nothing more than old logos on t shirts and hats — while again trying to claim ‘core’.

All evidence points to the fact that they are a family of greedy image obsessed opportunists and as far from core as possible.  Past behavior and current behavior is the only thing we have to go on… and all of it points to guilty…

Youd have to be home schooled by incestuous hillbillies to come to any other conclusion

Davies can’t go to MXdN even if he paid out of his own pocket: New Zealand announced long ago that they were not attending this year, and you can only race MXdN under your country’s governing body.

one thought may be that Star has too many riders they are paying.
Always a good shot at winning titles when a 1/4 of the riders are under your awning.
Not a bad thing though as its always good to see many riders have the opportunity.
Im pretty confident in believing that Monster would be more than happy to help out as they’d like to see their riders represented as well on the world stage.
But then again, 31 races in 52 weeks is a lot, then adding on another 5 of the WSX doesnt leave many weekends available.
