The AMA should be funding it out of their $12m annual budget.

Does the AMA make any money off of the MXDN? No? Didn't think so. However MXGP makes all of the money off the race why don't they fund it?

Riders are representing the AMA when they compete at the MXoN.

Strange you have no expectations of MXGP to fund this? After all they are making all the money. No other sporting event operates like this. If they did try to pull this off they would never get the athletes to show up and be laughed at for suggesting it. MXDN is one heck of a scam.

No one cares and the team owners don’t want the risk of their players getting injured for an exhibition game / race.

I’m sorry, but money is taking over any prestige of the MXoN.

What is there to gain by going and even winning the MXoN anymore?

One year of bragging rights that you won a clever 3 class race where the best riders are not really there.

It’s an off season race that is trying to keep marketing itself as something so important that if you don’t “see” the importance you don’t understand MXoN.

The ship has sailed. Without the best riders what kind of one race deal is it.

Maybe add it to the summer Olympics every 2 years. Current setup is failing and will fail.

They literally just canceled the Pro Bowl game...

Historically the Olympics have been run the same way.

MXoN is a FIM sanctioned event, they set the rules. If you want it to change, petition the AMA to ask the FIM to change it. Maybe the other 124 national federations will agree.

The olympics were built on using amateur athletes. The MXDN has never used amateur athletes. They actually expect professional athletes to compete at the MXDN, not amateurs. They require teams to transport massive cargo, team members, and riders but yet compensate them for nothing even though it is a cash cow for MXGP. Why is this at all acceptable to you? The MXON will not continue in any meaningful way if MXGP continues to gouge manufacturers, teams, and riders. I would expect SMX to continue growing and pushing MXON out of favor. It was a great event while it lasted but the money grab from MXGP will end up destroying it.

There is no need for me to petition anyone, this will take care of itself.

It seems like a the best route is for countries to fund there own team.  In the USA I would suggest that the AMA put a surcharge on all tickets for Motocross and Supercross.  Say we need to raise $150K to send the team with a legit effort.  (I have no idea the actual number).  They could divide the 150K by the number of tickets sold at all the pro events.  This could go under a seperate line item for AMA sanctioning.  I don't think that many fans would dispute the cost if it were $1 for our team to be sent.

I've had a similar idea. I called into the moto 60 show today while Zacho was on and he was having none of it lol. Ama membership renewal. Give us an OPTION to donate specifically to MXDN. Google says there's over 200k members. Idk but take a fraction of that and get a couple bucks per donor, problem solved. I'd gladly give $20 if it gets our best guys to go.

Idc what anyone says, to do it right it takes a lot of money. Yes top riders can afford it but teams have budgets and cost for shipping, flights, lodging, food  etc. has to be hefty.

You don't need to donate, the AMA can afford to pay for the team...

Sarcasm alert. Obviously you couldn't be more correct. The promotors, you know the organizations that make all the money off this race, should not in any way be responsible for at least subsidizing the riders expenditures. This is a line of reasoning I just can't understand.

That's fine but I'd still do it.

Why should the AMA pay for the event, it is being held by MXGP who are also keeping all the profit from the event. Why don't you want the organizations that are making all the money from this event use some of their profit to get the riders and teams to the races. It seems you want everyone but MXGP to help pay for the riders. What a strange way to look at things.
