i know they use them a ton in other action sports, i was wondering if any of you know about filming/ photography with fisheye lenses. i've heard it's tricky, because it can make the bike look warped ect

Fisheyes are good for shooting in tight places, but the biggest problem you'll encounter using one to shoot MX is that looking through the lens goes something like this...

Too far, too far, too far...

Whoa! WAY too close! Aaaagh!

Then, just as quickly, too far, too far, too far...

You really, really have to trust the rider(s) you're shooting.

yes, but as a photographer, it allows you to get much closer to the subject/s

love my nikon 10.5 f/2.8 for shooting photography... although as I'm sure most of you know, it's very specialized for certain applications and for motocross requires you to get uncomfortably close in order to get the desired affect. Like gibby said, easiest for shooting something like a tight corner.

Filming with a fisheye can be good but you don't want to overdue it. It can be effective for certain shots but I wouldn't film an entire video using a fisheye. It does add a creative aspect to your shots but your viewers will probably get sick of that same look.

Like GuyB said, you have to be careful because you don't realize how close you really are! I was filming at the Sandbox Arena last weekend and I came within inches of a rider without even knowing it.

Here's some raw footage using a Sigma 10mm 2.8 on a Canon 60D:

I'll link up the entire video when it's finished!
