Lee Ann, I want you to know that the comment about your son was what enflamed me the most. Your whole family has always been super and sometimes issues happen on the track with all riders. The riders always seem to work it out. If nothing else is accomplished on our posts, maybe the "negative" people will realize that evry rider has a family or friend that relays insults back to them.
I do thank all of you that have reminded me on this post that I may be taking this to heart too much. You are right.

To any parents on here ... it's the internet. What can you do? The majority of folks are cool. Just ignore the few that chose to be jerks.
kind of what i think... there will always be a few bad apples. Don't lose sleep over what usually really only amounts to no more than 6 people who get really out of control.
I like to think they are not the majority....

To all mama bears (concerned dads appear to be conspicuous by their absence),

Clearly, your hearts are in the right place (to protect your cubs); however, as others have already pointed out in this thread (some perhaps a little insensitively) you must not place too much, if any, value on what is posted on any forums - whether the comments are good, bad or indifferent. Almost everything that is posted on forums is opinion, here-say, rumour, or innuendo (with scant, if any, reliable validation) by faceless, nameless people. This liberty (this freedom to speak, if you will) is a fundamental cornerstone of all forums and must be protected - with appropriate moderation, of course.

That said, you then need to accept that these same faceless, nameless people don't know your sons, will probably never know your sons and that they will probably never play an important role in your sons' lives. Accordingly, and all feelings aside, their opinions - good, bad or indifferent - shouldn't matter because, frankly, they don't matter. In other words; sticks and stones (and casing triples) may break your sons' bones but names (and senseless opinions by faceless posters) will never hurt them. You can't stop opinions but you can chose whose opinions are worth listening to - generally it's only of those who are important in your sons' lives. Chose wisely and forget about the rest.

Yes, it might be nice (and it might be boring) if we all got along and never a disparaging word was uttered; however, this just ain't gonna happen. Messrs Marx and Engels had some interesting social ideas not that long ago which, on the face of it, appeared to have some merit; however, even these two learned gentlemen totally misunderstood, or totally discounted, human nature. We are all, and always will remain, different. And this is a good thing.

Hmmm, maybe I've taken this a little too far.

Cyndi, I "feel" your pain. I, too, have gotten on this board in order to clarify issues that have been grossly out context and to pass on information that can be verified as truth. My actions are not intended to be seen as "defending" my son...but, it seems that others know more than we do about what goes on in our "house". It truly amazes me that we have sacrificed for our kids to live the dream (by the way - mine graduated high school early with a 3.95 GPA), and this is what we get in return. Name calling and arm chair play-by-play on things they "think" they have seen and the surety that they post with on information referencing exactly what happens when they are riding on the "backs" of our kids. So often, these things are way off base. I too, tried to mention that name calling and wishes of harm are hurtful when our kids are out there putting it all on the line for entertainment. Oh well...guess it is what it is! I do know this...I have known your son for years and he was a good kid that has grown into a fine young man. I know too that my son has done the same...I am beginning to believe those who have written on your post...it is all about the DRAMA...so sad, cause in our house there is none!

What is it that you want me to say? Do you want me to "throw" someone under the bus? I can assure you that there was no prior altercation between the two, KC did not touch him with a tire, and KC rode the same way over that jump each and every time that he came through to that section. This type of riding did not change and as it is his riding style, it should not have to. No other riders were "bashed" for riding and scrubbing the same way throughout the night. I have perused these posts throughout the night and witnessed KC being called all kinds of names. After the Roczen incident, someone actually wanted to break both legs -- as a parent, this is hurtful and unnecessary -- these board are for entertainment and informational purposes only. My proudest moment with Roczen, my son apologized for unintentionally causing the incident though you and I both know that had it worked, KC would have been the man of the moment (unless you are a Roczen fan). What I think some do not realize is that KC and those like him are in this for the love of the sport and for the fact that they have a talent to share with others who enjoy SX/MX. As a parent, I could write forever about what a great guy my son is, but I now realize I would not ever be able to "convince" those who wish to see only the negative. Just so you know, this is not an attempt to "defend" Kyle, just a moment to make a comment. Kyle and Josh know the truth...I have to believe that things will work out in the end, otherwise, I will go CRAZY -- many mean and disrespectful people on this board. Such a shame. :o(
Mrs C,
You are wasting your time with these clowns, weve talked about this internet shit, you are ignoring my advice. Kyles riding speaks for itself and he would school those criticising his efforts, leave it at that..... He owes hansen a beating of epic proportions though. Pissed at even the word for it.

Was at track today when you rang. Hollar at me tomorrow...

great post.

i think seeing something in print is what gets people upset. Seeing something in print on a forum should not be taken in the same context as seeing something in print in a magazine or media outlet such as racer x.
2/21/2011 6:43am
It's probably going to go over a few people's heads but it nice to have a message board where racers and their family members will post a topic. Me, personally, all Moms posting deserve respect. Not only that but 100% of the time they speak the truth. Anyway, miserable old men were simply miserable young men in their day. I've always enjoyed watching riders break into the top ten. Goerke and Cunningham were two riders I watched who you could see had the potential to make it. Ryan Sipes was another rider who just had the talent. It's good to focus on the your favorite top 3 riders but there's a lot of talent throughout the field. Goerke at Broome, Cunningham at Southwick and Sipes at Unadilla put on some great effort and gave us a look at the future. Bench racing is fun but there's nothing like packing up the car and catching the racing action live.

I hope it wasn't the picture I posted in the practice time thread. It wasn't meant as anything but a play on people calling him Beef Georke.

My apologies if that was the case. I'm a big fan of Matt and all he has accomplished in his career.

Sometimes people should just keep their dumb opinion to themselves, or ask the admins to check it out, rather than jumping to conclusions.

I was going to vote with the click button, but one of the other admins beat me to it.

People are entitled to their opinions, but occasionally a little (or more) measure of self-restraint goes a long way.

Matt is a AMA National Winner. Beat Dowd at Southwick, (and everyone else), how cool was that shit!

Dont get on here and read this horse-shit, he is a top level pro
and you dont see stewart, reed, villi, dungey, windahm, etc.................. on here
they have better things to do then read this crap.
Matt (and his mom) should spend your time focused on your goals, the more time you spend doing anything the closer you will become to being a expert at it. Wanna be a expert of vital arguing????? screw that

I wish him good luck this year and hope he stays heathy!

dear matt's mom,

don't let the trolls with the 2" penis that get a cubby when they reach goal and get you to post a reply that shows you are angry.Much more to be gained here by letting it roll off the back.

the friendships I've made here are many.Thankful for the net in that regard.

Good luck to your son.

Just for the record, anytime someone says, "Free (insert username here)," I read it as "F (insert username here)."

Timeouts here are generally well-deserved, and lobbying on someone's behalf generally doesn't help.

I think you have the concept of big and small confused. You can check with my ex if you need confirmation. Besides, there's nothing "exciting" about being a janitor.
