You cant put a price on the fact you know you and your Moto Team / family are safe.
Celebritiy charter drivers barely make half that. No way a riders driver makes six figures.
I guess its nowhere near being a Pilot who makes $350,000
80k and a year end safety Bonus then ?

Feels like everyone beyond the riders and team managers in moto are there for the "love of the sport". They either just want to be near it, or are perhaps just using it as resumé builder for something else down the line.
Judging by that recent Kawasaki job posting, pretty much no one is paid what they should be getting and would be better off elsewhere.
Hell, most riders placing 10-20 really don't get paid enough... and that is likely too conservative an estimate.
Only so much to go around in a niche sport, apparently. But, if you're in it and you love it, maybe that doesn't matter (for now).

I might be completely mistaken but wasn't there just a Kawi team manager post here a few weeks ago and it was around 120k a year in CA? My first thought when I saw it was it sounded about 100K short of what I'd expect.
O/o make alot more than that now if you stay out of the west. Last 4 1/2 yrs they made literally nothing. If I wasn’t injured I,d be in Chicago with a EU co making .85- 1.00 cpm , rates came back. W2 co.s still pay nothing. No Trk payment only 40 out for fake occ insurance. Equipment is junk though jackhammering is less physical. Run out of 14 hrs call Lithuania & get another 14 hr shift or 2. Big crack down now could be limited to 20 ish hr days now. I hv a few pals that drive rock star buses they do ok. But the bands r a pain in the ass. Hauling the sound equipment they don’t make much, 300 a day + perdium 80.
It's probably the shittest job on any team. These drivers have to keep their rigs clean for race weekend, and It doesn't end there. They help with everything from cooking to setting up awnings and maintaining cleanliness throughout the weekend...and plenty more.
They obviously get perks, free clothing, paid for chow, access to the riders, and they will be really lucky to make $80K per year.
I don't remember where I heard this at all but I remember hearing that some rider paid his motorhome driver 60k for the year.
I’m currently am a transit bus driver in NW Washington. I can tell you that the pay is not that great. You can barely make in the 90k range to low 6 figures if you’re willing to work tons of overtime. I retired out of the electrical trade going on 4 years now and still what I make now driving isn’t even half of what I was making back then. Charter drivers make less than transit drivers in my area. I have no idea what a celebrity charter driver would make.

I have wrenched on quite a few race teams, and I do have my class A license, so I have hauled for plenty of teams. Every team is a little different how they structure their jobs and pay, and one thing about working in racing is you never really know when the money is going to run out. Generally I charge between $300-500 per day to drive, there are a lot of factors involved but thats probably about average.
Interesting, so if you were driving for a race team do you charge while sitting at an event?

Same here I made more on the strongest horizontal drill rig in the 90,s. I didn’t get union wages either I was in 3 including the ibew. Nobody wants to pay a good wage to any driver. Celebrity types r cheap even the mob. I paid 50 mil to bust a huge strike in Phily for 4.7 billion for 5 world record projects. weekly meetings & payments. I worked him for cash & only got 1,200-1,800 a week extra in 94. To make the most money I went to the Chicago EU 1099,s. My body paid the price for that 6,3 to 6,0 in 2 1/2 yrs & I did 6+. I look at life to get the biggest experience out of it. There like the weirdest movie you never saw, a super trip. A old 1940,s manufacturing bldg , you swear your in Bulgaria. The way they changed it , gorgeous super model type women. We hv a lot of laughs , only job that you hv freedom . If you can run & not hv blow outs. They Love ya.

Truck driver is the worse job in the industry and very under paid for the amount of work they do.
Cycle Trader wanted to pay 25k for a driver. Had no takers so they hired a young kid, he hit a few things with the trainer and lost the lift gate cord and switch.
It takes a certain type to be a driver. My brother in law is a long haul trucker and he absolutely loves it. He says he will never retire.

Depends on the team, I am a mechanic so most teams will utilize my services for that as well (depending if I need or already have a hard card). But generally if I am in the rig, even sleeping, im getting paid.
not necessarily true, once you get your class A there are plenty of jobs, and the starting pay is usually OK, but that is because a lot of drivers quit with in their first month. Trucking is a sink or swim industry, and few ever figure it out, but for those that do there is a lot of money to be made.
There is lots of turnover in transit driving. Where I’m at they have always been training new drivers because of drivers either being fired or quitting. Many people only make it 2 or 3 months for various reasons. Mostly accidents. It’s heartbreaking at times to see a newer driver get thru the training all excited, but then have a couple accidents and let go.
I wish I could understand what the fuck you are saying, because I'm sure some of it is interesting or insightful.

I wouldn’t think so. He shows up to track on Wednesdays and helps setup, chills Friday and Saturday and back to it Sunday mornings. Would be hard to do with a family

Its not so much the crashes, I know a few people that had multiple crashes in their first months of company driving. What gets a lot of drivers fired is not being dependable, and once word gets out that you are not dependable, then no one will hire you. Drivers have to be able to manage themselves, and most people cant do that in general.
It’s a life style 1st be it driving for a race team or hauling chocolate in a tanker. Life on the rd is different, if you like adventure & people. A lot of characters in America & Canada. It’s not going to bother ya being on the rd for long spells of time. I backed up wagons behind tractors as a kid. So I had some basics down but doing all of nyc. I practiced tight stuff to make it easy . I always had a gf near our tank washes. Went on all kinds of dates including roller skating. Lol Learn the mechanical stuff & repair it if you can . And apply yourself & max your skill level . It makes the job so much easier.
Sounds like a mugs game to me, over worked, and under payed.
