So I was just thinking that so many of these tracks have been really one lined, and while there's different reasons for that, I just wanted to get some of your opinions on what needs to be done to the tracks.
To me, the 45 degree S-turn sections need to be replaced with more 90 and 180 degree turns. The S-turn section a few corners before the finish line at Houston seemed to kill the close racing. Guys would be side by side and then would have to file in line coming into that section because the only fast way through it was to go inside to inside. I think more 90's and 180's would lead to more block passing opportunities. I realise 90's and 180's would make the tracks seem a little cookie cutter and unchanged from round to round, but honestly the only thing that really makes SX interesting is the racing, not the tracks. That's what the Nats are for.
Your opinions?

I agree, but the pros would have a better chance at giving a good explanation. REVEAL YOURSELVES...

Are the tracks all one-lined or is there just a particular line that everyone wants to take?

Well that's kind of the point and the definition of one-lined. Everyone wants to take that line because it's the fastest. That's why there needs to be more options that are equally as fast.

Why not cut some deep inside berms with the face of the upcoming jump for that line spaced slightly further away so they could essentially get the same run at it from the inside line.

the problem, in my eyes, is that these tracks are designed at the first of the year. they are practically cemented into creation, save for a jump being changed or whoops being mowed into stutter bumps.

this leaves no room for improvement. they sit down and sketch up the tracks at the first of the year, and then week after week they build a track that provides shitty racing. why? because the plan for the track was designed 6 months ago and doesn't take into consideration of what provides good and bad racing. the s-turn things are garbage.

i'm with you guys, rider designs is a great thing. it offers a change in pace, a change in design style, and more times than not it provided better racing. LoRocco's track in 09 was fucking sick.

The track in Houston seemed to work pretty well for the 250’s. Although I think Feld’s ideal scenario is a one lined track with the major names up front and James Stewart leading the “train”.

More and longer whoop sections! Take out at least one rhythm section shit, look at Houston for example,80 percent of the track was rhythm. Not that I have anything against rhythm sections but lets see some on ground roostin to expose riders abilities other than timing jumps. Don't the freestyle guys have that covered? I wanna see some tight maneuverability on the ground, that would make for some good racing even though a top rider gets a bad Holeshot or not he would have a chance.

The track designers need to actually think about what they are doing and design the tracks with elements that are known to create good racing. And if they don't already study this - they should start.

Maybe because racing has become so competitive now days that one line is the fastest line, and obviously everyone is going to use the fastest line.

Back in the 90s, two strokes couldn't jump those gnarly rhythm sections so easily and made for better (more mistake) type races, fast forward to 2011, unless someone crashes, it's hard to make up leaps of time. With a 4 stroke, the torque makes it easier to jump through tricky sections, where a 250 2 stroke or 125 would be tough to hit that specific section clean every lap.

Pastrana's track design was sweet though, wish he could do more.
