Long story long…it’s my 40th today leading up to this milestone birthday I had always wanted a particular bass boat and intended on getting a used one that met my wants. It was everything I wanted just used and not new

One of the HVAC units went out at our house. Both units are 15 plus years old decided to replace both. The coil that went out on the one could be replaced etc but it would have gone out again. The ductwork was also a hindrance to the unit that was installed by the previous owners.  It needed to be done right. There went 40k towards the units intended for the boat. Was pretty bummed about it

The company we went with for the repairs have been amazing as far as customer service goes. At first, I just thought they are going above and beyond because I’m giving them 40k - should have been more to correct everything but we were able to land on that price.

The owners son who is taking over went out and bought me a new rod and reel that was over 500 dollars. Bought me doughnuts. FaceTimed me to say sorry about the boat but come fish our pond and do a dove hunt with us and hope it helps.

Talk about good customer service. Yes 40k in their wallet but it’s the thought

WHAT? Great customer service and you don't even give them a shout out (letting people know their name). You are a bad customer! 😉

Yeah that’s on me. I didn’t think anyone on this board would be be from Cross Plains TN and would use Pettit heating and air from White House TN. If you’re in the area and need service on HVAC stuff they have been the best. Truly been fantastic

That's a great story, and how things should be. Probably has as much to do with you not being an asshole and beating him up about his prices as it does him just being a good business man.

I have become friends with almost every sub-contractor building our house because they gave me a fair price, and I didn't get 5 other competing quotes and say (Well X will do it for this price" shit. Our cabinet guy went way over and beyond on our stuff, even though my wife tweaked things right up to our drop-dead have to build them now date. Our electrician made a bunch of additions/changes without change ordering us to death. Both of them are building houses in our development, and I just got back from a mountain bike ride with our electrician. Our plumber will get back to me any time I reach out no matter the day, and I am going fishing with our finish carpenter next weekend.

None of them ride moto though, so that sucks. lol

That said, our hvac people are kinda dick'ish and I don't really like them much. Condescending, not very responsive pricks. Will not use them on our next build. Can't win them all.

Happy Birthday!!!

My sitch was very similar except one lineset in the wall leaked. My air handlers were 28 years old and the condensers were 20 years old.I didn't ask if the price included his labor though I helped as much as I could and gave him $1000 in cash anyway when he was done.

I ain't gonna tell you what I paid but you still would have had a decent down payment on a boat.

Sounds like you scored!!! Most people are not so fortunate. Likely, your getting better service/personal attention because you're a cool dude. That always helps!

Often I'll just take care of the small, "while you're here" things that always seem to pop up once I've completed a project. No charge.

Good will inevitably leads to good word of mouth to friends, and neighbors.

Thus, more projects.

Especially when they see the finish product you can create.

Win win for all parties.

Sounds like you're just the type of client those who are proud of their trade/craft look forward to dealing with.
