Iran released the draft deal...

  • A permanent and immediate halt to the fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon.
  • A US commitment not to interfere in Iran's internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of Iran.
  • The lifting of the US naval blockade within 30 days.
  • A US commitment to withdraw forces from around Iran.
  • The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days, under arrangements set by Iran.
  • The suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and the unfreezing of Iranian finances that flow from that.
  • Sixty days of negotiations to reach a final agreement on nuclear issues and the lifting of all sanctions.
  • Reiterating Iran's commitment not to produce nuclear weapons.
  • During the negotiations, the US would commit to not increase its forces in the region and will not impose new sanctions.
  • Establishing a monitoring mechanism to implement the agreement.
  • The final agreement will be approved by a UN Security Council resolution.
  • The final negotiations will not begin before the release of half of Iran's frozen funds, the suspension of Iran's oil sanctions, and the lifting of the naval blockade. And the final agreement will be made solely on the fate of enriched materials and enrichment, the lifting of sanctions, and the Iranian economic reconstruction program — not missile programs or support for resistance groups.

Here’s a pretty concise summary of that alleged ‘deal’.

“Trump left a working, constrained nuclear deal; the post-JCPOA path produced a much worse nuclear position; and this alleged draft mostly buys de-escalation by paying Iran up front while postponing the hardest nuclear concessions. That does not mean it is automatically bad if the alternative is a widening war, but it is not “better than the JCPOA” on nuclear controls. It is more like an emergency off-ramp from a crisis that the JCPOA had largely prevented.”

Don't you mean giving Iran access to their money, that the US froze in foreign banks?

That’s a fair point. They’re Iranian assets, not American money.

I was translating into VitalMX-ese, where unfreezing Iran’s money has traditionally been described as ‘giving Iran billions of dollars’.

My actual point was more about sequencing of events. The alleged deal appears to provide major economic relief up front while postponing the most difficult nuclear stipulations until ‘later negotiations’.  And the nuclear stuff was supposed to be the most nonnegotiable part……

But isn’t that what most of the complaints were with Obama unfreezing money with the JPCOA? But now at an even larger scale.  The money Obama let Iran have was money Iran paid for weapons in the early 70’s that the USA never delivered.   Now why is that ok now?

At this point I have started to think that Trump is just playing with the stock market. Knowing that a dip and rebound is always triggered. Even after so many false announcements.

If the Iran provided details of that deal are even close to accurate, to me it looks like Iran has the upperhand here.

I really hope that it ends soon. I don't think it's going to be possible to make a deal as good as the one Trump pulled out of at this point. If  it's structured this way. It's already giving up  the same or more  $ in frozen assets than the entire Obama deal did and that only gets the negotiations started as far as the nuke side of things. The supposed reason the US is involved, and had totally obliterated only a year ago.  To me, its saying that Iran doesn't trust the US as much as the US trusts Iran. For the US to give up so much just to get back  close to where we started a few months ago tells me alot.

I will be glad that there is a deal if and when it gets put together, it's already cost $10's of billions in lost aircraft and an insane amount in inflated energy prices. Many lives lost and families changed forever.   And all we have to do to get back to where we were before any bombs were dropped is give Iran access to  $50-60 Billion ( half of the estimated $100-120B ) in frozen assets.   Except now Iran knows they have a lot of power . And that they can disrupt the world's economy whenever they want to. Although I don't see the rest of the world not acting if Iran did that unprovoked.

I look forward to seeing how it gets spun to show how the US is better off having pulled out of the Obama deal etc. . It will be a masterclass on spin and BS. Or maybe Trump admits he made a mistake and ........ahh who am I kidding, that's never gonna happen but if a deal is made that can save lives and help bring the cost of everything down,I'll give them that win. Even though  it's just fixing a problem he caused.

Because this time we got to spend actual tax payers money, lost the lives of  military members, have a big fireworks show on the news every night, screw up the entire world's economy and tie it directly to the decision made by Trump. A decision that the majority of his cabinet came out as being against in the first day or 2 after strikes started .

And of course because Trump will spin it in a way that makes his supporters feel good.  As soon as He lets his supporters know how they feel about it they will let You know just how much better it is.

Once Iran took American Hostages they didn’t deserve to become whole over a weapons purchase.  Stop with that idea. All that un American idiot obama did was help Iran fund terrorism around the world.

We have had a long history with Iran, but we sold them weapons pre 1979, and then we held them and keep the money. I not arguing that we shouldn’t have kept the money but it was illegal.

Iran sued the U.S. to get its $400 million back since the weapons were never delivered.

  • Under international law, the U.S. could not permanently keep the unspent funds because the contract was terminated, and keeping it would constitute an illegal asset seizure without legal backing.

Their ability to do anything with the uranium,  as far as further enrichment is concerned was hammered pretty good.

Unless the talks go on for years, I don't think we need a sense of urgency regarding a nuclear weapon.

Now I do think the monitoring solution needs to happen simultaneously with any sanction lift or asset return.

If the US didn't overthrow a demographically elected government and installed the Shah as a puppet, the Iranian Revolution would have never happened, and hostages would not have happened. That's why the Iranian's have this clause in the deal...

  • A US commitment not to interfere in Iran's internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of Iran.

But isn’t that what most of the complaints were with Obama unfreezing money with the JPCOA? But now at an even larger scale.  The money Obama let Iran have was money Iran paid for weapons in the early 70’s that the USA never delivered.   Now why is that ok now?

So what, The US is always sticking their nose into other countries business. I’m not saying it’s right, but there was no need to take hostages just because they wouldn’t let them kill the Shah and we gave him a ride outta town” Here’s the deal Fat”  Close to every single citizen of America in the last probably 75 years or more, has benefited in one way or another without even knowing it, from the Dealings of the USA outside of its borders. For me personally, I am really glad to be an American, even with all it’s faults there’s no better place to be , especially these days.💯

Other countries citizens would benefit from sticking their nose in the US's business, would you be happy with that?

Certainly not….. I said sticking your nose in other countries business wasn’t right. But let’s not forget that other countries have indeed stuck their nose into US business and benefited greatly.

Hmm, looks like more people are realizing the war is over. Some people just take a bit longer to figure it out.
