So Dood would you say over 10 foot? ...15 foot?

Hard to tell from up where we were, the surf report said "8 to 10 feet"  My gues is 15' faces ? maybe a little bigger on the big sets ?   From up where we were it took the lips a loong time to go from the top of the wave to the bottom. They looked like slow motion. 

Please excuse my ignorance of all thing surf related...  ...MidWest land-lubber here...
...is that a beach where you could ride inside the wave, barreling?
...and, is that a public beach or private beach?
...just curious...

Technically they’re public beaches but the access is in rich neighborhoods with limited parking. There’s no “Public” parking. Try and find a place on the street and then there’s access paths between the homes.  There are small sandy areas to set up. It’s more of a sunbathing / diving spot when it’s flat. As for surfing or getting barreled no, too many rocks and no real rideable waves at that spot.  Here’s a Google earth view. The circles are where the wave in the picture is and where I took the picture from. Nobody uses that beach when the waves are big like right now it’s way too dangerous. I learned three girls got swept off the rocks in Laguna, two of them made it back to shore and they haven’t found the third one yet. Super sad deal. People who aren’t real familiar with the ocean can show up between sets and think everything’s cool, and then 10 minutes later there’s 15 foot waves sweeping them off the rocks. 😢

This guy was the star attraction. 

A frikkin owl twice the size of anything we have in north America.

The place was amazing.

They rehab injured birds, either back into the wild, or forever cared for there.

Pretty awesome, owls are my all time favorite animal. 🤙🏻
