Do first moto results count for non-points paying positions in the outdoors?

Positions 22-40 get 0 points. 

Because 21st gets a point. 

39 21 is 1 championship point

24 24 is zero championship points 

so 39 21 beats 24 24 

A 24 24 would be a 39 22 but that’s not what the result was

It looks like positions outside of point scoring are determined from 2nd moto result.

 I think it's silly when guys say they know they had the overall so they didn't need/push for another position etc.  when every point counts toward the title. Overalls don't actually mean anything except hardware and bonus money. 

When no points are scored, I believe second moto score matters most.

Don’t go to Racer X for official results. They just lump all non scoring points racers in at the end and sort by moto 2 finish, completely ignoring moto 1. 

Official Results have it listed correctly. Racer X listing inaccurate results has bugged me for a long time. For as big of an outlet as they are they really should do a better job with that stuff. 

Edit to add: they don’t do it every time. Their results posting is inconsistent. I have found many scoring issues on the Racer X site over the years. Sometimes in points paying positions too. I don’t know why they don’t just list the results from the official results. 

I don’t know how it’s actually done but to me it should be points with 2nd moto tie breaker then for all non scoring riders combined moto results and place them that way. However, then you have the guys who are dnq for moto 1 and alternate for moto 2 so it does get sticky.
