So the Trump tower that was to be built on the Gold Coast at Queenslands Surfers Paradise, has been axed by the developer Altus Property Group. It was to be a 91 story tower on the coast, and the tallest building in the country of Australia. Seems there were signature drives and protests by locals not wanting the extremely tarnished trump brand on Australian soil.
Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate who was flown to Maga Lardo in Florida went on to say, "We're putting up all this money, and they want to take all this profit", as another of many reasons.
I'm just so proud of the Ozzies for saying no to the crime family of this century. Wish our country had the same insight, gray matter in our brains, and the balls to do the same.

Not sure how Surfer's Paradise is these days as the last time I was there was 10-15 years ago. It looked rather aged from when I was there several times in the early 2,000s. But hey if you want to run a successful enterprise out of town, I guess your on the same level as AOC who ran Amazon out of NY because they were going to get some tax breaks. And the money she saved by not having Amazon and all their jobs? How much was that? Some people will kill the goose because they don't like the color of the egg.

Altus Property Group chief executive blamed the axing on the "Trump brand was increasingly toxic in Australia", but this is the same guy that twice declared bankruptcy and had run businesses that collapsed owing millions!
He couldn't raise the money.

Kind of the reason Australian's living and working in the area had public protests, and signature drives to pressure the developer and prospective investors. Is it starting to make sense?
Plus the chief executive for Altus "only" had two former bankruptcies. That's far less than the person in charge at trump all those years with failed business ventures, charities shut down for fraud, a "university" shut down for fraud, illegal tax schemes, backdoor payouts, and at least SIX bankruptcies. Is it starting to make sense?

It’s their country, if they don’t want it , they don’t want it. I’m just curious about what the construction workers think about losing probably a 5 year or more project not to mention the jobs a building that size would bring to the community. I have no idea what their economy is like over there.🤔
The first post appears to have misrepresented why the project got halted.
L2S chimed in that the developer was unable to generate the funding required. Maybe something to do with the developer having to go bankrupt twice in the past. Nothing to do with the Trump universe. That's my take from L2S's post. AI seems to confirm that.

Plenty of jobs for construction workers in Australia, that site's been vacant for 10 years, and has been sold to different developers many times, somebody will eventually develop it.
The developer said he couldn't raise the capital because of the toxic association with Trump, media reported the developer had a shady history, the developer is now saying the Trump organization wanted too higher a licensing fee and too much of the profit.
All or some of the reasons may be why he couldn't raise the funding required, or it might be spin, none of us were in the room.
Yup, nobody knows. However, if I were the developer and it were Trump's fault, I'd say "it was Trump's fault" and if I were the developer and it were my fault, I'd say "it was Trump's fault". Nobody in their right mind would ever say "I blew that historic project, it was all my fault"

She actually thought at first they were getting tax money. Remember how she was saying we could take that tax money and invest it in schools and the subway and bus system instead of giving it to them to build a business. Lol
