So here’s why the prices of gas changed, it mainly simple concept called supply and demand.

1) 2015–2016 collapse (biggest reason)

  • Massive global oil oversupply
  • OPEC kept production high
  • U.S. shale boom flooded the market
  • Result: oil crashed → gas dropped

2) 2020 (COVID crash)

  • Demand collapsed (nobody driving)
  • Airlines, commuting, shipping all dropped
  • Oil briefly went negative in futures markets

3) Why prices rose after

  • 2021–2022: demand came back fast
  • 2022 spike: Russian invasion of Ukraine disrupted supply
  • OPEC+ production control
  • Refinery constraint

Matt never post facts here lots of them do not like it. 😂

just ask Dave.

Ya know, I burned A LOT of gas on Saturday…

4-6 MPG on track

19 avg on the road (spent A LOT of time in the hybrid…it was green, after all).

Wasn’t paying for the fuel 🤣

Saw $5.99 today for regular at the same Shell I’ve been driving by working. I think it’s higher by about 75 cents than at the Safeway gas station where I usually get my gas.

You said “do you see where the lowest point is”.

That was in around April of 2020. Maybe you don’t remember but that WAS during Covid when we were being told to stay home.

This is 100% factual, not bullshit.

Did a lot of driving in 2020.

Did a lot of ridin’ in 2020…

Bought a new Transit and a Raptor in March: $80K all in…for both. Sold the Raptor for an unbelievable sum.

Bought 5 acres for $5K that summer: Just sold it for $100K.

So...uh...yeah…it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

Oil and fuel are always gonna go up and down. World events are always going to play out whether we like it or not, but one thing will always remain true. No politician gives two shits about the best interest of the people. It makes no difference what letter they have by their name. Any belief otherwise is pure delusion.

Downplaying trump's illegal war of choice that directly increased the cost of fuel a "world event" is comical.  You guys all fell for it again (and continue to fall for it), own it.

Been all around the midwest lately.  Diesel is between $6-$6.50.  Lots of people ITT don't seem to understand that everything in their life spent some time on a truck.

Going to get worse before it even thinks about getting better.

There is no "you guys". Since you quite obviously missed the part where I said NO POLITICIAN, I'll just go ahead and spell it out for you. I'm not in either one of the bullshit left/right fanclubs. If you want to argue about which politicians dick you like better, you need to go argue with someone else.

As someone currently more than a few hundred miles away from home I am laugh/crying every time the gauge gets back down to E.  Cruise control stays set exactly at the speed limit for the first time in my life 🤮.  Almost look forward to construction zones so I can slow it down some more.

I've noticed the larger logistics/delivery co trucks keeping things at the speed limit.

However, on I-5...there are still PLENTY of truckers driving as if they don't pay for the fuel.
