I saw someone die from dumping their blood volume into their thigh once..... it's the location that you can bleed out internally that med students never think of when getting grilled.
And the irony of this coming from the guy who defended suing a track because of flagger positioning is something.....
The flagger was trying to help. Like several of you said, "Darned if you do, and darned if you don't."
It might have helped if there were two people assisting, but that's what they had.
Didn't it happen earlier this year ? Was it Justin Cooper that got his leg caught in someone's rear wheel ?
Was Cooper getting caught in Tomac's rear wheel at Birmingham.
Yeah and 2 minutes later you saw him blasting by Tomac again, I couldn't believe it 🤣

This may be the wrong thread to ask.. and I mean no disrespect to Mr Clark but how does one apply to be a “runner”. I imagine it’s just a who you know type gig like most things
There are AMA crews who have the responsibility of the red cross, blue and they also carry a yellow flag. There are "runners' the guys with the highlighter green gloves. These are the folks responsibile for moving tough blocks, moving bikes, and handling the on track situations. They do NOT carry flags. These guys travel from race to race. Then there are the hired flaggers. These folks can travel on their own to flag multiple events. There is an extensive training at each race regardless of how many time the flagger attended. i have done this for years and have watched it evolve from where the local guys would help to the point now where it is explicitly explained that those folks never enter the track during bike on track moments for any reason. feld has the runners for that reason. And yes, even during a dry race, it is chaos on the floor. It is racing. Watch a NASCAR race, it takes time to get to injured drivers, same at NHRA, rodeos, etc. Is there room for improvement, absolutely...it is easy to judge by the replays but harder to make calls in real time
Yeah, I agree with Crutcher. You have guys coming off of a table to single landing right where Zay is. Flagger is thinking get him out of the blind spot before he gets landed on and causes more damage. Tough situation
