New England legend Bob Hicks passed away yesterday at age 96. He was one of the founders of both the NESC motocross race series and the NETRA trail series that operate through New England. He was also the founder of Trail Rider Magazine among many other accomplishments in the sport. He probably did more for dirt biking in New England than anyone else in the history of motorcycles. Just thought I’d share to pay respect as a fellow New England dirt biker.

RIP
He was such an important man in the sport. And a great person who was so respected. May he rest in PEACE.
Lived in the same town as Bob, Danvers, MA. Did not know Bob until I started watching his son, Ricky Hicks race NESC motocross. Went over to their home to look at a Husqvarna CR 125 they had for sale, met Bob, and he was a fountain of information that he was very willing to share with a neophyte racer. Also a great mechanic, talented writer, and all around great guy Rest in peace Mr. Hicks 🙏🏽
Rest easy, Mr. Hicks!

A legend in the New England area and a staple in forming the off road scene here. NETRA and NESC owe him a lot of credit. I remember hearing about him while in my youth early 1970's, the Berkshire ISDE etc. RIP to a local hero.
Sounds like a legend. Being a Michigander I never knew him but it's always sad when we lose a legend.
A legend for sure. RIP.
GODSPEED, Sir.
Massachusetts to Alvin?
Holy smokes! That had to be some culture shock. 🤣
Sure was/ is. That’s what happens when your daughter moves to Texas with her husband, has grand puppies and then gets divorced. Trynna just keep the peace and go with the flow.
You grew up in Danvers ? I'm in Beverly , And RIP Bob Hicks
I live a couple towns over from Danvers and have family living there. I’ve only been to Texas once for a weekend in Houston. I can’t image the culture shock of moving there.
Monkeybutt, Rode at Cherry Hill every other day back in the 70’s , practice tracks for Ricky Hicks, Dave Brillant, and Bobby Maihos. All very fast NESC racers back in the day. Had to cut across Beverly airport to get to Cherry Hill. Sadly , as you know, it is just an industrial park now. Yeah 429, not my cup of tea at all, but family prevents my moving.
I think it’s awesome that our Northeastern moto-bros know, remember and respect someone that’s done so much for their…our…sport.
Godspeed.
Ride in the sky Bob, RIP
Thanks Bob... Long life. RIP
HA, I rode at cherry hill every day... working nights didn't hurt. I remember when Dave Brillant showed up with his prolink hand made honda. Looked so trick. Didn't work so good...
Bob was always up in his shop when I stopped by to see ricky. those were the days...
Racerxx, that sounds like a perfect fit for a fantastic early adult life. One day I rode at the Hill and was completely surprised by meeting Mike Guerra up there. He was so fast that I didn’t get on the track while he was ridin ‘cause I thought that I would end up causing him to crash by making a mistake in front of him. You know, as I was getting lapped for the third time in five laps. Met Mark Robilaird there several times. Quiet guy. More fun in those days than should be legal. Ripping down the roads to get to riding areas, running from cops, who only half heartedly tried to catch you. Great years to be into Dirt Bikes !
Mark Robillard and Mike Guerra at cherry hill ,huh. That's unbelievable....
