I take back what I said about vintage racing...I could do it on one of these. My opinion was unfairly influenced by that 78 CR250 I rode in February!

Belongs to Carlos Serrano and he was burning some good laps on the thing.

Lucky!! absolutely primo ride, I'm sure. Something I've seen CS involved with is the "frankembikes", where you put a 490 motor in a Magnum chassis that's got the heavier (IIRC) '81 forks and swingarm. Supposed to be about the best of all things Maico...

A few years back I was watching old footage of some of the early Mammoth MX Races. 77-79. They flat out hauled. The suspension was working like a mo-fo. I dig vintage racing. I would love to get into it, if only they had more around here. That Maico looks nice.

It sounds like you didn't care much for the CR480. I had one, and it was one of my favorite bikes. 'Course that was back in the mid-late 80's, and I haven't ridden one since. I remember I loved the motor, but the brakes were horrid. Anyway...how does the Maico excel over the 480? Suspension? Brakes? Motor?

Maico hit is way more mellow and controllable. Turns better too. Suspension felt about the same, but I think the Maico was set up more to my weight.

Brakes sucked badly on both.
