You have to get informed somehow.

Exactly, while I don’t watch the news I follow articles about what the newscast is covering. If you are only getting informed by sensationalists (Cain, Watters, most of CNN panel, or even worse retarded podcasters) or opinion pieces you are doing yourself a disservice imo.

Everyone has a different definition of "the news". Cable news stations are just entertainment, local news stations are about the only thing left of local reporting since the newspapers shutdown and never got replaced with online local print besides Facebook groups, the national 30 minute news gives a fine recap of current events but doesn't provide much of a range of information it's just not in the model.

The written word will always be a better more deliberate version of someone's reporting. Spoken word is too on-the-spot and details and nuance are sacrificed in lieu of presentation.

If you want good information your best bet is to read it.

TM covered this saying it’s a good launch pad and then you can go look for more articles or info about that topic.

I've worked at and frequented too many places where FOX NEWS, CNN, or CNBC is played on the tv all day everyday. To many people this is "the news", but in reality it is not, it is entertainment.

Yea that observations all well and good but it’s not at all what TM said.

The written word can be every bit as unreliable as a news cast.

The best thing is to find multiple places as each place will have a tid bit of different info on the same topic. Then you have to extrapolate what you think is the legit info.

I would say the only reason the Dems will be effective is because the President, and his team of sycophants just can’t keep their mouths shut and push things too far.

Left to their own devices the Democrats couldn’t get out of a wet cardboard box.  But we elected Trump, and the cult of personality around him is backfiring on the conservative agenda that would otherwise be more popular.

On the other hand, the far left is the reason President Trump was elected.

I’ve  been a journalist for 27 years straight including many years in DC and it’s as bad now as it’s ever been. I grew up believing the Washington Post ,New York Times, etc. now  I see them as simple propaganda tools. Shit really went off the rails in 2016 when Trump got elected. He so offended the liberal elite journalism community that they had to try to take him out. They destroyed their credibility in the process..Media coverage of COVID-19 was also a complete disgrace. Probably because pharmaceutical spend so much money in media. One thing a lot of people don’t know is that the intelligence community has a great deal of influence and control in the media. It’s been that way forever.

moto nomad,
As a journalist in California, what do you think about that bill (AB 2624) that the lawmakers in California are trying to advance known as the "Stop Nick Shirley Act"?
It has been reported that this bill could/would "criminalize" investigative journalism.

I think anyone that pays attention or cares (most people don't even care) woke up to that fact after Elon bought Twitter and let their communication be made public.

That’s not the official name of it but  it’s completely ridiculous. It’s clearly aimed at hindering  investigation into fraud but the California legislature loves criminals. It’s that simple. And I was a huge liberal for most  of my life.

Is Nick Shirley doing anything different than PETA sneaking into a slaughter house and filming to gory stuff?
