It is really tough; ask AC.
An apt moniker though
If I had to bet on it Id say Webb could win 3 or 4 sx titles possibly. The next possible guys are Sexton if he can stay healthy (basing this on speed we saw before he got hurt) or Jett Lawrence.
He didn't impress me during his early 250 years measuring raw speed against Forkner but he sure proved me wrong in 2020, and in 2021 I still believe he was the quickest out of everyone for the year before he lawndarted.
Haiden Deegan will be the next biggest thing and biggest positive thing for our sport in a few years time, I'm not saying he's going to dominate but the kid has such a massive and diverse following from all walks of life not just moto, he will boost the sport in a big way.
Looking at this old thread from 2017, we still don't have a dominant rider after Dungey with more than 2 championships. Or, do you think Tomac should be considered with his amount of Supercross wins? Before last night I would've said yes, but now that Eli's out and lost the '23 SX championship to Sexton I'm not so sure. Congrats to Sexton for surviving the carnage.
Do we see Sexton be dominant from here on out? Jett or Hunter? Does Webb come back strong? It's pretty interesting to read this old thread. For future reference, I'm going to say if we do have another dominant rider who will win multiple 450SX championships it will be Sexton or Jett.
Pretty obv that Sexton will put his name on the hall of fame. I don't get it how people can have doubts about Sexton. I'll not go to far with Jett right now.
😭😭🤦🏾♂️ injuries injuries injuries
What time does Deegan race!!!!
Pit Row
I'm going with Jettson. He seems to have the maturity of a much older rider, MC as great as he was, posted his #s by remaining healthy and injury free. James should have broken every record by far but had the mentality to crush everyone to the point that (in my opinion) he became his own worst enemy. His desire to crush the field led to too many unnecessary crashes. I still can't believe how he even got up from some, Daytona in particular. I believe Jett will be the #1 guy under the Honda tent within 2 years. Who knows, Honda being Honda may think they don't need to pay that many top guys and let Chase go. Maybe the brothers are a package deal? Who knows, Honda has shot themselves in the foot on more than one occasion.
TM
If I was Honda, I would have three 450 riders under my tent. The Lawrence brothers AND Sexton. All great riders and great role models for the sport.
Mee too. But that's just us. Honda will do what Honda does.
the sport is brutal
austin austin austin lawddddd Jesus have the injuries robbed this brotha of greatness 🤦🏾♂️
edit: me reading my old posts when I was high school & into my young adulthood life made me realized I been on this site for too damn long 😂😅
Seems like the only thing Nostra-ToolMaker missed in this post was his prediction that Jett would be Honda's #1 guy within 2 years...turns out it took him less than 2 months from this post to gain that position.
Really interesting to read through this thread, though, and see how far off some of the predictions were (Josh Verize?), and how relatively close correct others were (Webb).
At this point, we still really don't have a dominant SX rider but you would have to say Webb is closest to this with his 3x championships.
yeaa thts prolly the most accurate assessment for right now , coop , Eli , chase & Jett hasent been able to 2 & 3 peat like dunge & RV so yeaaa u have to go with the next category of ranking which would be who has the most SX titles outta the current crop which would be coop at 3
Still hasn’t been a repeat SX champ since this thread was started
ML has been training again recently...
Look at some of these early posts on this thread, it is actually scary and mind boggling.
Kenny will be the first to repeat. This year and next year. 🤘
