I was reading the new Dirt Rider's 450 shootout. They claimed the RMZ has ergos more suitable for smaller riders. This got me thinking....what bike has the best ergos for a bigger rider? I'm 6' 230lbs and want to upgrade to a 450 from my 03 RM250 in the spring.

Thanks for any help!

Kawi 450 is the biggest, unless you'll consider a Husky..

At 6' you can probably set the RMZ up comfortably for yourself. At 6'6 I couldn't make it work and sold mine with 5 hours on the clock.

I sold my RMZ, bought a Husky and it's the first bike I've owned that I'm really indifferent towards putting lowboy pegs or a taller seat foam on it. It fits like a glove.

I m 6 2 215lbs and have a 09 rmz 450 with rg3 full clamps and linkage, no problem for me at my height, but most people say the yamaha and kawy are the best for bigger riders, maybe check a local track also and talk to the riders, maybe take a spin on a few before your purchase, I want the 11 rmz 450 bad! IMO you can t go wrong with any of the new 2011 s!

I'm surprised nobody said KTM, Go see motorcycle usa online, and hear it from somebody with hands on experience.

The newer KTMs feel small, at least in the showroom. The newest one I've ridden is an 07 450SX and it felt cramped too.

I'm 6'2 220lbs and have the 11 RMZ450, I reckon it's fine. I had an 09 CRF450 and it was good as well.

How is the new RMZ?, i was looking into a new one, how do you compare the 2 bikes, pro s and con s , are you riding them stock? What made you choose the Zook? My 09 rmz is a great bike and they say the 10,11 rmz is quite a bit better. The crf seems like a love or hate type of bike. Unfortuanately i don t have the luxury of taking a chance with $8 s. and getting a bike and not liking it.

I love it. The power down low is very aggressive compared to the Honda, although the Honda was easier to dial the suspension in on. The Zook turns on a ten cent piece. It's a bit wider in the shrouds than the Honda, not as wide as the Kawi but. The Honda had a Yoshi slip on which made a huge difference down low, and I went up a tooth on the rear sprocket. The Zook has a full Yoshi system, and I went up to a .49 spring in the front, which is a bit heavy for some of the blokes that have ridden it, but I like it, no more sore wrists after 10 laps from bottoming the fukka out.

The only reason I bought an 11 Zook instead of the Honda was the dealer. But I'm stoked that I did. It is an awesome machine.

Right on! What yosh system did you get for the rmz?, How much difference between the 10 and the 11 rmz 450? I heard the hot set up for the zook 13/51 with a pipe and its great, any opinions, thanks i want advice because $8 g s is quite a bit to spend and take a chance!

It's the RS4 Ti. I've only done a couple of laps on a mates 10 with a stock exhaust, which wasn't as aggressive as mine, otherwise no real difference. I'm still running stock gearing and I'm happy with that. You're right about wanting to be sure before you lay down the hard earned, best advice I can give is to jump on one if anyone you know has one. Myself, I'm happy with the Zook, it's exceeded all my expectations.

I'm 6'5 and found the new yamaha to have the best ergo's. The only bike I didn't try was the RMZ. I found the worst ergo's for me was the CRF. I did like the fit of the CRF from 2002 to 2008 which I raced every year until 2009

If you get the 2010 and bolt a pipe on, probably end up close to the price of a 2011. Even a little left over for bling.

Enjoy.

Exactly, a pipe and get the suspension done!, I have a desalle graphic kit , his team manager hooked me up with when i was working at the mxdn in Colorado! All the 09 hard parts and plastic will fit and i have extra parts with yellow excels and talon hubs!

I don't know enough to post an honest opinion, beside the look of them. In theory they sound like they'll be great. I haven't seen any in my area here in Oz yet.
