Did he have front brakes anymore? I was wondering if the mechanic cracked the brake line open to get the front freed up. Whatever he did, it was fast.

Lars said it was just packed with dirt and they cleaned it out a bit.

This is the unavoidable situation where experience is virtually irreplaceable. He didn't need to blitz those things like he was, he was in a comfortable spot and Eli was already going backwards. The whoops tried to bite him multiple times before he finally crashed. He didn't listen.

Fortunately for Hunter he's been so dang good the rest of the races this near catastrophic crash only puts him a few points back from Tomac.

I'm a huge Tomac fan but Hunter could have the red plate back in a week. As bad as this could have been, maybe it's just what he needed to learn.

Bottom line is this title is a whole lot more exciting now.

I get your take and agree and I've seen others say he got a few prior warnings but I do wonder how many times these dudes get sketchy in whoops every day of the week and maybe don't see the 'warnings' like we would

Well here it is, confirmation for those that needed it, that the front brake kept on locking after the crash and pit stop. I didn’t realise he crashed two subsequent times though. Lucky to get out of there with even two points.

“My day was a bit of a bittersweet one," said Lawrence. "The qualifying race went really well, and I was happy with everything—the bike, the team, myself, everything felt great. I was feeling really good in the main event and was honestly feeling so comfortable. I was really happy with where I was, and I made a push to the front and was catching Kenny and Chase. I just got caught by surprise with the crash at the end of the whoops. I was okay, but the bike took some unfortunate damage. It’s just racing, sometimes that happens, and I had to pull into the mechanics’ area. I crashed two more times just due to the front brake locking on, so that was difficult to bring home but I think we managed two points. It was a difficult situation, but we’re still in it and can’t wait to bounce back next weekend.”

Was Hunter at press day? Didn’t see him in any of the first lap videos or the vital pre race interviews.  Is he hurt?

Teams/Riders only have access to a certain number of press days. They're not at all of them.
