I am currently riding a 2001 CR 250 and the chassis is beginning to show its age.
I had a small crack under the seat and all the welds on the side of the frame are wearing thin.
Also the forks and shock are beginning to wear thru the chrome so that wil have to be replated.
With all those costs together i was thinking it might be cheaper to just buy a roller crf chassis and put the 2001 cr motor in it
Since i am short (1m74) i was wondering what chassis would fit me best a crf 250 or a 450 or are they both the same?
I know the current bikes are all tall,i can hardly get my leg over my sons ktm sx250 .
if i would do a conversion it would have to be one that doesn require welding,so the newer 2021 to 2023 chassis.
Any advice is higly appreciated.
Get a 2005-2008 CRF 450/250 chassis, replace the engine cradle from your old chassis and create this:
Honda had a prototype CR250 with 4th generation aluminum chassis which never made it to serial production. Many people think that the 4th generation chassis is the best chassis that Honda ever built
Thanks for your suggestion but i would like to avoid any welding.
That bike does look fantastic by the way
Then your only option is to use this kind of conversion kit to bolt your engine to 2021-2026 CRF 450 chassis

Use a gen 3 2002 thru 2007 CR250 chassis or if you wanna spend some bank get a set of TSR billet cases and use the rest of the motor to complete the cases. Their cases will bolt right up to a 21 thru 26 honda CRF450 chassis. Sorting out the airbox will be an issue on the 25/26 bikes but has been sorted for the 21/24 bikes if you have deep pockets.
