hey i've never ridden a MX bike before but i want to get into MX im hoping its not to late in the game. I'm 6'0 and 175 pounds, what would be an ideal first bike?

Yz 250 or Rm 250 2 stroke. good for your height and weight, ez maintainence. There are a lot of them around for a reasonable amount of cash. Good luck

I would go with a 125 just because you have never ridden before. A yz250 is way to much power for a beginner. I have a kx250 and the power on these things are ridiculous.

really a 125 keeptwo? im quite heavy wont that play a part?
my riding experience is limited to a little time on some street sports bikes a ninja 650 and gsxr 750 both of those experiences totalling to about 2 hours of riding

2 hours total ?

Get a used CRF230 or TTR 230 . Ride it until it won't run anymore. Then think about a 125 or 250.

yz 250 would be perfect for you. just dont underestamate the power when you first ride it. the powerband might throw you off if you arnt easy on it in the begining

I know a couple people that had similar experience and went with the CRF250 and a YZF250. they really seemed to like them one moved up to a 450 and the other loves his YZF.

get a 250f. 4-strokes are easier to learn.

450 4 stroke...and take it easy. Remember, YOU control how far back that throttle goes!


Easiest bike to learn on....

If all you have ever ridden before was street bikes. remember body position plays a huge role in the dirt. Try and get your nuts on the gas cap. a used 250 2T or 4T would probably be a good learner bike for you.

Where and how are you planning on riding? An XR250 will work (cheap tank of a bike with a mellow powerband...but heavy and no e-start), a crf230/ttr230 are too small, IMO. If your are looking at 2 strokes, then I would look at a KDX200/220 or a KTM200. I would stay away from the 450 4t at this stage. JMO.
