We all know the 250 East and West SX Championships are Regional (Division) Championships and therefore those wins do not count as a National win in the record books.
Shouldn't East/West Showdowns/Shootouts be counted as a National win for the record books? Its the same riders all together that compete in the Outdoor Championship that are counted as a National win.
I actually like that idea alot!💯
X2
Last I checked Nationals were outdoor motocross…
Hmmm.

It's not an outdoor national.
I understand what you’re saying. Folks consider an east coast or west coast 250 win regional. A 450 supercross champ is a national champion not a regional 250 champ.
Yes IMO the showdown winners should have those rounds count toward overall wins statistically.
No. It's a regional series class not a national class. I would like to see it be a national class but I believe it would hurt the sport in the long run.
Maybe go a step further and crown the overall best points in all the showdowns every particular season the national champ of 250 motocross that year?
There is already a 250 national motocross series.
We could call it the SMX series!
Closer to SMX than outdoors. Maybe some SMX bonus points. Good idea to make the shootouts have more meaning.
I’m in favor of those rounds having extra points per race.. not like double triple gimmick points, but something.. winning a shootout is a big deal
Only if they race 20+1, like the 450s
No. Despite both regions lining up at the same event the points are still split to the rider's regions. It's still a regional series.
But is is really when by talent when everyone in 250 SX is there? I suppose you can say because both sides are regional AND that implies exclusions for prior champions and points, that is isn't qualified as a national championship. For all incense and porpoises, it is a national championship race.
