DNA Shredstix/Star Bike Look SLOW

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 12:51am
Wow, saw the TWMX Raw video of Grant, Tomac and Cunningham at Beaumont SX. Tomac looks QUICK, Grant looks smooth and Cunningham's bike looks like a turd. There's a section with a triple/quad and Cunningham has to stretch it out and Tomac looks like he's not even 3/4 throttle. You can really see the different right there. Looks like the carb'ed yami's are going to hold those guys up big time. I hope yamaha does something drastic with their 250F for 2012.

Thanks. I'm computer-tarded.

I noticed that too. That yami seemed to struggle on that quad

Those bikes are not slow. you're insane, dude.

On top of that, the suspension looks really good. I was watching them go through the woops and they track really well.

Allan is a smart dude so i know those bikes will be fast.

Don't think so, I have a TLD 09 CRF450 and a 2010 CRF450 done up by Frenchie Smile

Merely perception. Tomac appears to be a gear lower and revving a few thousand rpms higher. Listen to the difference in the pitch of the motors.
1/4/2011 9:27pm
Maybe he was taking it slow so he wouldn't be another pre-a1 casualty?

Look at how hard Cunningham seat hops that. Come on.

They do look slow but it's not all because of the lack of fuel injection but
more to do with the 5 valves and therefore it doesn't rev as high/quick
as the comp. Heard they have an all new 250f coming out for 2012

If that was directed towards me, I know a fair amount abour dirt bikes and riding them, especially in the dirt and with jumps as opposed to flat ice. I've taken a stab at SX in 08 and 09, on a mod 250F. I know what looks slow and what doesn't. Thanks for asking partner.

It was also a cold day, and Geico bikes are EFI, while Yamaha's are not. I can hear the difference between the two bikes.

Star Yamaha has GOOD bikes, but on a cold day like that the EFI bike did sound crispier and better.

lmao, thats rich!

You have no clue. I'm quite sure I've been racing and riding mx, offroad, drag racing, road racing and everything in between for longer than you've been alive.

Lighten up Francis, someday you'll know!

Not trying to take sides here but pulling the 'i've been around motorcycles longer' doesn't necessarily make you more knowledgeable than 664. Maybe you've raced at the same level as he has I have no idea but it sure gives him a decent amount of credibility on the subject.

I'm not going to turn this into a pissing match with you bud, your ice riding experiences transfers right over to SX, which I'm sure you've ridden tons of in your day. Ice SX? That's new to me. You win! Cunningham 2011 SX Lites Champ.

I can't say whether one bike is faster or whether the rider is faster ... but you can immediately hear the Yami doesn't sound happy. Is that 'dieseling' ?

I'm no thumper expert but the Yami just doesn't sound like it is running / revving out clean.

Ddavis do you know that dirtbikes, motorcycles, and race cars run GREAT in Cold weather?

look at Tomac's amateur record next to Cunningham...

ones a better rider then the other, hands down. Like yamaha does look slower IMO but regardless of speed..

someone put some GD packing in the muffler of that blue pile of shit. I put money that tomac's honda puts down more poneies then the yamaha and its not half as loud even wide open.

I agree, no doubt they are fast for yammies but slow compared to everything else. You cant pollish a turd.

you are forgetting Terry... this is a forum and the internet. Factual, reality, existing on this plain of, well, existance, has exactly zero bearing on truth.

someone thinks it..... scratch that, they dont think about it, just the first thought that hits their head OMG OMGOM GOMGOJMGOMGOPMGOMGOMG runs to the keyboard and types. They say it, so it must be true, this is the internet, thats how thing work. I want it to be true, so if i say it enough times, no matter what evidence i can see, what facts i can see, doesnt matter, it becomes truth thru my sheer power of will and mind!

I just rest safely in the knowledge that the majority that think they bring intelligence to the table, are severly outgunned. Thats why belligerence is prevalent!

Not always the case! (that is why piston engined aircraft with carbs have mixture control.) If said bike(carburated) is tuned right at sea level and 15 degrees Celsius ICAO standard for approximately a 14.7:1 fuel to air ratio, that same bike will run a little different if it rained or got cooler when ridden in the same area. This is where EFI is the cat's meow(revolutionary), the algorithm(taking alt, temp, throttle position etc) in the ECU or whatever the particular company calls it for the model bike, will always try and keep the bike at the right fuel/air mixture based on what is in the program!

I kind of thought the same thing. The Yamaha sounds lazy but there is so many things that can cause that so IDK.
However, My bike looks ALOT faster when my son is on it. I dont know why but it just does lol.

My bike looked alot better this summer also when I put a 15 year old kid on it that wanted to try out a 250 2t......it even jumped better, weird how that stuff works. My kids and my dad wont let me live it down that my bike can huck that triple that I am freaked out about.
