I am just wondering if there are any folks who typically attend the San Francisco round who are planning on skipping the Oakland round this year...

I have talked to many friends who usually go to SF and do not want to attend Oakland this year. Their reasons are; the stadium is a shithole, there is no where close to the stadium to go eat or grab a drink, there is no where close by (nice place anyway) to spend the night.

I heard recently that the reason Feld had decided to move the race to Oakland was because SF sells out every year and Oakland holds a much larger capacity. I wonder if there will be a lot of people who decide to skip Oakland due to the venue.

I myself will be attending (maybe by myself as the wife doesn't really want to go to Oakland either) because I can't skip a SX this close to home. However we all know that the majority of the crowd is casual fans. I can't help but think the move across the bay might have been a mistake. A sold out crowd always looks better than a half filled stadium.

I've been to SX's at both stadiums. I like ATT, but to my mind Oakland is a better for a race in all aspects other than being able to walk across the street to Amici's. The traffic access is way, way better at Oakland than at ATT, and you can BART directly to the Coliseum station and walk the bridge right in.

I'm not sure if I remember SF ever being sold out. Last year maybe. It was always a nightmare getting into that place. Pits were a pain to get to for the riders and mechanics. I wonder if the govt of the liberal a-hole of the world had anything to do with getting rid of the race... Wasn't there problems with storing the dirt because of it being contaminated with fuel a while back?

I myself also liked to walk across the street for some pizza and beer at amici's in between pactice and the night show, that will be missed. I will agree SanFran can be a hassle to get in and out of. I have never been to a SX at Oakland, but I do like the idea of taking Bart to the stadium.

As far the reason for the change of venue I was wondering that myself. While listening to the a Matthes podcast with Dave Prater, Prater stated the reason for the switch was simply that Oakland could accomodate more spectators

See you guys in Oakland!

Just plan on tailgateing during break between practice and the big show but stay in park!

Feld is already talking with AT&T for 2012.....and they haven't even run the race yet.

But it could be the only round where bubba gets cheered.

Can't be worse then the LA Coliseum! I think the flying into Oakland and taking Bart sounds good and easy.

I am thinking that Bubba getting cheers at Oakland might have been a racist slight....

IMO Bubba will get the loudest ovation both positive and negative at every round.

Just fortunate to have an SX and MX Nat'l pretty close to home imo. Just hope it doesn't rain buckets and be a bad mudder with this weather pattern we've been in.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't Pac Bell a designated "baseball only" park? Meaning the field is actually quite a bit smaller than a multi use stadium, such as Oakland is. Hence the usually smaller track and quicker lap times at Pac Bell, than at some of the other larger venues. Maybe this year, we'll actully have some lap times that dont hover around the low 50's? Since its a stadium with room for a full football field and a larger track than you would see built at Pac Bell.

AT&T is a baseball park built especially for the Giants and is smaller and more intimate than the Coliseum. There's a lot more field at Oakland, but will they use it ? I don't think so. The usual lap times at SF are around 45 seconds or so ? And I don't think they are much longer at the bigger stadiums that they run.

I'm definitely going to go, although I like going to SF better myself. Going to and from the Coliseum is easier than SF, but SF is a lot more scenic.

Cool pic Andy. I'll never forget that 79 race in Oakland. First SX race ever for me and the Jammer was at his crafty best that day.

Oakland has much better parking (trying to find a place to park in SF sucked) and will be much better to tailgate abd park an RV, pits will be closer to the track for both racers and spectators, and hopefully a longer course. Now all I hope for is a lot of sand and let everyone run a paddle tire!!!!

All supercoross finals should be 20 minutes plus two laps!! we all pay the same ticket prices but some get longer races depending on size of track.

ATT is a venue specifally designed for baseball. Anaheim, Dodger Stadium, and Phoenix are also baseball specific venue's. That being said there is ample room at ATT to build a race track with 1 minute plus lap times. Unfortunately in the past they have left a ton of open real estate in SanFran. Every year ATT park hosts the emerald bowl (college football), and next year they are hosting all of Cal's football home games. Now what is smaller is the amount of seating available at ATT.
