I doubt there's stats on this, but maybe there are someplace.

Put aside the pros and minis, but thinking of serious amateurs and recreational weekend racers.

How many people racing full sized bikes (19/21 wheels) on a given weekend at a local track are racing a displacement controlled class like 250 and below or 251-450?

I've raced to the ER several times this last year!

When I'm not in the hospital, I race Open B. Usually around 20-30 people in our class.

Folks who post here is interesting, but how about generally at the local tracks you race at. What proportion of riders not on minis are racing in classes where you have to comply with displacement limits like strictly 250, strictly 450.?

I'm not even sure really what your question is, but almost everyone on big bikes races in a class where it is limited by displacement...other than open class and vet classes. I do the 30+ B class and there is a 125 or two upto 450s out there.

I find that the age classes are doing better than displacement around here. Vet 40 A is what I run, they run 40 A/B together, usually a dozen of us.

The 125 2 stroke class has been very full and the plus 30's. I'm sad to tell you how pathetic the 50 and 65 classes are around here....

Actually the 250 A, B, C and 125jr ( now supposedly allowing 250f's) are the only size regulated class, as in this area (WI) 250f's and 250 2strokes have been allowed to run the 450 and open classes for a while.

I haven't been able to race since 04'....but do plan on doing a few this next summer sometime. I ran 250INT and +30A before. I'm 43 now , so I have no idea what exactly i'll run.

I know I would like to do a couple of the Vet nationals up here in the NW , and maybe a couple P.I.R. races for the fun of it. I know I'll be able to run a +40 class and will probably still do the +30 as well.....just don't know what class yet.

Before I stepped away in 05'....I was running 3 different classes on random races. I almost always ran the +30 and 250INT , but every once in a while I would either run +25 and something else.....think it was "before the hill"? It was 18-24yr age groups.

If you are older , they will let you drop down in age classes.....but not visa-versa.

FTE, maybe you should just ask how many racers here are between 12-29 years old. Then ask what class they race....

Maybe, but I guess as interesting as what individuals here do is to me, the question I have is more across the board at the track, and that's only one part of the whole. 30%? 50? 75?

Was curious what the numbers would show here so I picked a race at random and tallied the results. As it turns out it was not one of our better turnouts so the numbers may read a bit differently but looking at where they stacked up I'd say it's pretty representative of the norm here.

Total Rider entries: 316
Entries on Mini's: 108
Non Mini Entries: 208
Non Mini Displacement Class entries: 99

So roughly 48% of our non mini entries are tied to a displacement class, a good portion of that 48% also ride an open/age class as a second entry class.
