Hey there
We have a 2015 cutaway moto bus that is loosing it prime...assuming from the recent cold.
I'm having trouble finding the location of the manual primer in the engine bay?
Do I need to remove something to access it?
I see some vids online but the engine bay is trucks and not a bus...does it even have one?!
Appreciate any help.
It played up yesterday and I turned the key a few times and it eventually went so maybe fuel pumpe?
Either way-my question is where is this dang manual primer!?
The manual primer is on the filter head, which can be accessed directly below the intake elbow immediately following the air box. Two 8mm band clamps and you can pull it out revealing the top of the fuel filter head. I would bet my bottom dollar that it is losing prime due to an air leak in the filter head (prone to leaking). You can try just replacing the bleed screw, but it can also be the button itself. You can try to rebuild it, or just replace the entire housing with a new one. I actually deleted mine because I run a FASS lift pump.
Oh man awesome 🤝
Thanks so much..passenger side of the vehicle or driver?
Mechanic by no means.
It ran/runs beautifully but have recently had some 20 degree nights in Washington this week which isn't common..could something have cracked? Hose?
I'm certain it's this issue but can only come up with cold temperatures as an answer to why it's happened?
It's on the passenger side of the engine bay. So you have your air filter that is in the front-right (front passenger) corner of the engine bay. Connected to the air filter housing is a big elbow, which you will want to remove. I'm attaching a picture with the elbow circled and arrows the two band clamps you'll need to loosen. Once it is removed the whole housing will be right there.

No problem! I'm a diesel engine nerd and I really like the Duramax platform, so I have spent ungodly amounts of time digging into them haha.
As far as what happened, who knows...The filter head is a known issue which causes a loss of prime, so it really could have been nothing, or it could be that the cold affected an o-ring or hose enough to lose prime. I'd like to think your hoses should be safe, but stranger things have happened lol. Feel free to send me a PM and I'd be glad to walk you through any of it.
Parking Lot, you are a real stand up guy ! Never owned a Diesel in my life, but that was such an easy tutorial , even I could follow it ! LFG !

I’m not sure how long you’ve owned this diesel but if you haven’t addressed the CP4 fuel pump issue you might look in to it. My 2015 duramax failed at 70,000 miles and the repair bill was almost $20,000. Yes $20,000.
Hey, thanks man! Just passing on what I've been taught.
Has 245,000 on it.
Purrs like a dream.
Cost $5k from department of transportation so when she dies...she dies
Dude! Walked me through it it ...text back and forth ...24 hours later she was up and running and back to normal .
Could not be more grateful for his help!
