Because the only topics that ever show up are just created to bash Trump. Have you ever seen a thread where people discuss what mods they can do with their extra $$s that they didn't have to spend at the gas station? And no don't go start one just to appease my example. It's not difficult to understand that people just get tired of the "noise" so much so, that even if a legitimate issue came up, not interested.
TM
I highly disagree with that first sentence, but the rest should be no surprise, right? Kind of like how most review feedback actually has a disproportionate ratio of negative feedback relative to positive feedback, because 99.9% of people that have a positive experience, don't bother to share it. This political outlet has an inherent complaint aspect to it, no getting around it. Plus, there's the "now" side of things, because what would we have found here during Biden's term? Certainly a lot more complaints about Biden, since he used to be part of what was going on "now", but he's not "now" anymore, so nobody talks about him. Trump "hate" only feels overwhelming when it's in opposition to what we like, and the evidence of that is when the conversation steers away from the subject and into more of the "you" stuff.
And to sort of throw you a bone, remember when the Westboro Baptists were talking about burning the Koran? Obama was the president at the time and he condemned it, but said nothing about the 1a. What a great opportunity to remind the country what's so great about this place, that we have extraordinary freedoms that many other countries do not enjoy. You'd be killed if you burned the Koran in some other countries. I often think back on that and it's part of a really long line of bipartisan civics failures by all leaders that is strongly connected to why we're where we are today. The problems in front of our face right now may be Maga related, but they really do go much deeper than that.
Ok son. Have a nice day 😊

Worried? Do you know what empathy means? Trump continues to shit on the rest of the world. Worried? No. But the rest of the world is disgusted
Yes, everybody knows there were no threads bashing the last guy when he was POTUS. Poor Sleepy Donnie.
You wrote he's destroying the USA. Couldn't be further from the truth. The rest of it, you think you're mad at me for having no empathy. Fact is, I didn't respond to that so you have zero clue on that point. But your real beef is with people like the above poster that bashes Trump every 30 seconds so when someone that might have a legit reason, NOBODY is going to listen any more.
TM
Not mad at you, disagree with you. I take back the empathy comment, rude of me.
It’s ok for individuals to have differing opinions.
Objective, evidence based fact, Trump has pissed of the whole world, again
To be fair, in your original post, you cited Trump saying something rude and untrue, but nowhere in history through all of time has that been the objective metric of destroying a country. I'd agree with your sentiment more if something like "class" or "quality of communication" were the reference to what's being destroyed, but even then you'd be hard pressed to find any sort of unit of measure for those things to prove the statement as true. Unemployment is okay, inflation is okay, markets are doing excellent, and yes debt is still spiraling out of control. but that's a problem that's not unique to trump. That trend has been growing since ~1980. I'm all for metrics, so if you have some, please share them.
Trump backtracked earlier today. Guess those NATO comments were wrong…
Well said. My comment wasn’t worded well
I just can’t see how a president who thinks he above any law (a dictator) and is alienating the rest of the world can be good for the USA in the long term
As he should have.
"disagree with you"
That's why we talk. To be fair, most people disagree with me 😉

In that case, history supports you. Anyone can Google something like, "what happens when a country adopts isolationist policies?". None of the results support a position that it would help us compete with China. Quite the opposite. And anyone can Google whether or not China is embracing globalism and how it's working for them. We're on an ideological path to contraction, though it hasn't materialized yet. Other relationships are forming that exclude the US, but we haven't really started seeing the results yet. There's always significant hysteresis with large scale economics. Anyway, history already has the answers, but you need wisdom for history to have meaning and we have a pretty serious shortage of wisdom.
Thank you for this .I too am Canadian. In 2009 my nephew was injured in Afghanistan. 1 journalist and 4 of his fellow soldiers were killed in this attack. Today he walks with a terrible limp and has dealt with serious mental issues. When the orange king said John McCain was a loser back in 2015 I thought that was it. Americans are grateful for their Veterans. Well I was wrong. To the Orange king nut huggers on here show yourselves in this thread . Don't be afraid.
Economic prosperity is not a reliable indicator of societal health. Economic inequality has never been greater and in many cases is exceeding levels of those in the Middle Ages. Environmental health has never been worse. Personal health has never been worse. More people on are prescription drugs than ever before. Cancer rates increase year after year. Systemic mental health emergencies... I could go on and on. The data is out there with a quick search, I'm not going to link all the sources to my claims.
Is Donald destroying America? IMO no, its already been destroyed, the founding of the Federal Reserve in 1913 did that for most of us, but it did great things for the money lenders, hence the continuous growth of the GDP.
The values which have historically underpinned the economic and cultural prosperity for the vast majority of Americans have been undermined for over 100 years now, but its a two tier system because their subversion has brought incredible wealth and prosperity to a very small and continually shrinking amount of individuals as money and wealth continue to be consolidated in the hands of fewer and fewer.
Is Donald destroying America, no! He is remaking the philosophical infrastructure, and rewriting the values which Americans will embrace willingly or be coerced into accepting, because without revolution, everyone's livelihood will eventually be dependent on embracing these new values and this new idea of morality. "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength", up is down, black is white, women are men, men are women.... you get the idea.
The outrage is that these new values and this new idea of America, runs contrary to the values and concepts which have traditionally illuminated what America is, and what it (it is an it, because America's strength has historically been in the idea of it, more so than in the physicality of it) stands for.
What liberals are so blind to see is that those traditional concepts they feel are being destroyed mostly never existed! They were a chimera, a trick, and an illusion fabricated by Hollywood, the banking industry, and pop culture. The true source of outrage that people on both sides of the political spectrum are discovering (remember the outrage over every little idiotic thing Biden did? I do), is over the fact that many are beginning to realize they've been conned, and they are infuriated. People feel isolated and helpless, and overcome with the belief they can do nothing about it.
Apathy and resignation I don't believe has ever been greater. The data to support that sentiment may be hard to muster, but take a look around. A little observation and personal evaluation tells the tale. Our society is sick, or earth is sick, and we are suffering. Salvation though is free, and it is not exclusive. It is readily available to anyone who is willing to pledge their material possessions for the return to principles, for the reinstatement of honor, and for the reclamation of individual liberty and sovereignty. We do posses the power to change ourselves, and equally so, we possess the power to shape our world. Our lives and our futures, are not in their hands or the idea of it, but in our own.
I feel like this take is too binary, that we either need an existing perfection right now, or a revolution, which feels more like a personal desire for a revolution and then various reasons are amplified to justify it. Like, "all men are created equal.." at a time of slavery, that initially apparent hypocrisy isn't an excuse for a revolution, it's an endless aspiration to try to do juuuuust a little better every day/month/year. How could any ideologies exist if everyone folded in favor of revolution in the face of every challenge? You'd just be in a near-constant state of revolution.
The need for perfection right now or in the future is the goal, but it is not a need. Success is not dependent on it, and never will be. Though the desire and intention for it is.
The idea that intention and desire are key components in the formation our reality is as near to scientific truth as any.
What is revolution? Revolution is a willingness to always question life's and societies most fundamental concepts. Revolution posits the possibility of facilitating us into an new epoch of humanity. Revolution will not and cannot be violent, for revolution reliant upon the justification of coercion is simply a replacing of the status quo and is no revolution at all. Most emphatically, revolution defined along these lines, must quite naturally and inherently be permanent.
Ethical, rational, principled, and non-violent change, is the only way to achieve true and lasting progress.

Cheese, we may not agree on everything, but sharing a beer or two would be fascinating! Seriously, unless you’re actually an AI bot, the conversations would be quite rewarding.
You ready for 2’ of snow?
This post approaches perfection.
Are you choosing to change/ignore the definition of the word “revolution”, or do you truly not know what it means?
Words matter, and you are definitely not using that one correctly.
Been snowing here in VT for a couple hours now. Hoping it’s a big one and we get a solid base for snowshoeing.
You are incorrect. Revolution is not inherently violent or destructive.
Any “revolution” that relied upon violence as a means to an end, never achieved the ends they claimed to be seeking. And so there were no revolutions, only revolts. Revolts which did hardly more than to exchange old owners for new owners.
For at least as long as what is historically accepted, humanity has never seen socio-cultural revolution, only changes in ownership.
Revolution is not inherently violent or destructive. Only those who stand to lose the most from revolution want you to believe that it is (thank you Hollywood). It is the mentality of a slave.
You are misusing the word “revolution”.
Maybe just change or systemic change, but I'm unaware any societies in history where a collectively low quality people were made better through any system. When you have low quality people, there is no system that works. It's part of that whole, "if you can keep it..." deal. Doesn't matter what it is, you need decent people and if you have that, every system works.
You’re not really redefining “revolution,” you’re actually trying to replace it.
Historically, linguistically, and academically, revolution does involve rupture, coercion, and force, whether political, social, or institutional. What you’re describing is reform, evolution, or cultural change, not revolution.
Calling every non-violent value shift a “revolution” doesn’t make it one, it just turns the word into (incorrect) branding.
And the ‘Hollywood / slave mentality’ line is just rhetoric, not argument.
Words matter.
If you want to talk about ethical, non-violent, incremental change, fine. But that isn’t revolution, no matter how poetic the framing.
And based upon previous statements, I forgot to ask if these are your actual thoughts on the subject, or if you are just claiming after the fact of posting them as ‘aesthetic’?
You are deriving its definition from only the negative connotation of it. You are failing to consider the word has both a negative and positive connotation.
But you are free to read my post and simply replace the word revolution with whatever word you feel more appropriate. You’re missing the forest for the trees here, only wanting to debate semantics.
Your constantly recurring insistence on being pedantic leads me to believe you are unable to comprehend or simply do not wish to add anything of substance to the discussion. Or maybe you are just compulsively argumentative.
what do you feel is a more appropriate word?
**edit I will add that I understand your desire to challenge my position, it just seems disingenuous. At least @MPJC will challenge in a meaningful way by discussing the core concepts. If all you want to do is bring red herring to the table, why even come at all?
How it looks/feels to the rest of us Vitards too…🤪👍❗️
“Disingenuous” is a bold accusation from someone who’s made a habit of walking back big claims as ‘aesthetic’ when they get pressure-tested.
This isn’t about connotation, it’s about definition. You’re attempting to use ‘revolution’ symbolically, not descriptively. That matters, because the word is doing the argumentative work.
If you want accurate language try: reform, evolution, transformation, cultural realignment because that’s what you’re actually describing.
That’s not pedantry or a red herring, that’s clarity and attempting to impose a modicum of precision.
So again: are these your beliefs, or rhetorical aesthetics?
Because sliding between philosophy, poetry, and truth claims and then crying ‘bad faith’ when someone asks for precision isn’t honest debate, it’s evasive at best.
