I remember a few years ago james saying "my whole life is about january 8th" Well this year A1 is on january 8th. I bet James feels the same way now. Of course the championship is his first priority, but I am sure he wants to come out and remind everyone just how fast he is. 3 more weeks and hopefully it dont rain......

Everyone knows he's fast. Most of his doubters don't believe he can make the whole series with blazing speed as his only strategy.

And alot of people don't think the speed advantage he's enjoyed is quite as large anymore meaning more pressure from multiple riders ever week leading to a costly mistake and the causing him to go faster to make up time or points and all over again and again.

His pride may fuck with him.

Anyone with a crack at the title is going to have to run a gnarly pace this year, and James isn't the only one capable of a mistake.

Amen to that, brother.

It's all about accepting 5 th after a shit start or an early tip over.....can James race for points?

Everyone else can settle.

The speed gap has closed and the pressure is on.

So you've seen James testing in FL? Do you use a satellite? If not, you're using old info.

(And no, I haven't seen him either...I just think it's funny how people know what everyone's current speed is, based on old "best available" info.)

Exactly! James could come out and be the fastest by a second or he could be the 3rd fastest and be off the pace. Things change. Especially when there is a big gap between competitive racing. No one will know for sure until a couple of rounds are in the books who the guys to beat will be and who has the speed advantage

I highly doubt Dungey, Villopoto, or Reed have closed the 'speed gap' that Stewart has always had on them.

That's not to say they can't beat him... But as far as raw speed, I think it's a long time before anyone can match Stewart. That is, if he made full recovery from the wrist injury.

James Stewart is unbelievable on a supercross track, even Ryan Carmichael isn't as gnarly as James on a supercross track.

Ryan Dungey reminds me of Ricky, as fast as anyone but when someone is faster then him, he accepts it and goes back to the farm and works harder for the next race.

All that " speed gap closing" is based on just one race- A1, 2010. I`ll wait till at least round 5 to say that there is five more guy`s on same speed as Stewart or/and maybe Reed.

I can say this the only two people i can see beating Stewart week in and week out could be Villopto and Reed, Reed's proven he can beat him and Villopoto is way faster then Dungey when he is in shape and not crashing..IMO

How come reed didn't win Vegas? He showed up and said I'm gonna win.

How come bubba didn't win unadilla? He showed up saying he was there to win and represent us against the world.

I never told you who was gonna win, just said the speed gap is closed and more than just speed is needed.

James is in for a tough year whether the speed gap is closed or not.

C`mon. You know as well as I do that Reed and Stewart was racing each other not the field. It was all about points and not making mistakes.

I think it is you that is in for the tough year!! You are talking about 2 races where 2 different guys had been laid up for months due to injury and little seat time to prepare for either race. Both are coming in to A1 completely healthy and well tested! I hope you like the taste of crow!

And that's the difference... James can't accept that anyone can run his pace..( or even close to it) he goes even harder and crashes. If he stops doing that he should win, but I still think Dungey is the favourite.

There are so many guys that can win this year... it is going to be awesome.

RV is way faster than RD? And this is based on what? The races he was faster last year it was by FRACTIONS of a second and let's just say he's fully healed, Dungey was out there racing and improving while he was on the couch. Dungey is just better at supercross than Villo. RV's got a shot at the National's if he wants a title this year. I wouldn't discount the mental aspect either. RD's confidence is sky-high and RV is feeling preasure to just finish a season

Just curious! How is that you know exactly how everyone is feeling?? It amazes me how you all say Dungey feels this and Ryan is feeling that. Jeez!! You have NO CLUE how any of them feel.

They said they were gonna win and they didn't.

It's a good thing they got you to roll up with the excuses though!

Just keep in mind during this debate that my handle is not Ryan Dungey's #1 fan or James Stewarts blind believer.

It's knowitalloveragainnovice and I have yet to lay my bet on any pony.

I think James said it best when he said"I think you can only go so fast on a sx track and I feel Ive found that speed" or something like that...Its really true I don't think you can lower the trajectory any further or navigat a corner any faster or skipp through the whoops any faster with out blowing the next corner or obstacle- James has brought amazing speed to this sport his scrub and corner speed would gather him all kinds of tenths all over the plac in the past and he would seemingly be able to put a second on anyone at will...but the sport has changed because of him and the kids that grew up racing 80's learning to scrub are getting older and some old dogs can learn new tricks and that gap is getting slimmer we have been witnessing it slowly for the last 2years in paticular- I also think the tire changes may have leveled some of the comp a bit as well but I digress-

If the speed gap shortens for more than two guys the field gets much more difficult to move through making consistency and error free seasons all the more important- Such shall it be for A1 2011....IMO
