How can we say Russia cannot take over Ukraine and China cannot take Taiwan to serve their interests, yet have western countries doing the same, but it’s say ok because there are less people.

It is critical for the security of the Northwest passage, so protect it all you want, that’s why NATO exists

Sure rare earths are just about big magnets, if that’s the case those clambering for those billion dollar deals must be total fools with really big fridges. 😂

"Yep, but the vast majority of those residents don’t want to be part of the US"

How do you know that? You don't know what they have been offered or will be offered?

But you all are probably happy now that Trump confirmed we will not militarily invade Greenland.

Should put that argument to rest, but I know it won't same as we still have people claiming it's to distract from some files.

TM

Come on man, let’s get serious

Polling (whilst acknowledging imperfect) shows over 90% oppose becoming a US territory. Their leader categorically stated that under no circumstances will they become a US territory and received zero backlash from his constituents.
Greenlanders marched in the streets in protest, there were no counter protests supporting a takeover.

Yes it’s great news that Trump has ruled out using military force, and has backtracked on his tariff plans

Now maybe he can actually be constructive and work with NATO to collectively protect Greenland, the shipping lanes and everything else that is important for the national security of all NATO members.

Is it a requirement for US presidents to be 200 years old and have brains made out of porridge?

Framework: USA will be allowed to build more bases on Greenland soil as previously granted, and Trump will grandstand saying his tough talk won the concessions.

Just curious, is this based on something made public, or more of the 'guys with all the stars' variety of intel?

If there are actual terms out there, I think we'd all be happy to look at them. Otherwise this still reads like the same access/basing framework and agreements that we’ve been operating under for decades, just with louder headlines.

And circling back, you never did say who here is 'stuck in the 20th century', or which specific assumption you think no longer applies.

If its like some of his other great deals it will be the same or slight changes and a flashy new name.

But seriously I do hope that its beneficial for everybody involved and that it respects the people who have lived there for generations.

Like him, tolerate him or hate him, Trump is still the president of the US, and everybody here is better off if he is not alienating us from longtime allies

Rare earth magnets are more important than you let on. . .

But do continue on with the idiocy.
