Who is this guy?
And what is his story/connection with this industry?
I tried the search function but found nothing.

Up in the Northwest we had 'Duct Tape Dan' ,'AKA Doofer Dan' ,'AKA Crazy Dan'.
Duct Tape Dan had his own track and it was definitely a site to see.
Jumps made from tires and old boards from his house,in a semi residential neighborhood.
Even had part of the track at one time going down into and through his basement.
Dan rode an open bike (1983 YZ something with a jacked up silencer),with the biggest kickstand you had ever laid eyes on.Levers & clutch perch wrapped in duct tape, along with duct taped custom numbers.
Lot's of duct tape on other various parts of the bike also.
His open face helmet also sported duct tape numbers along with his chest protector, boots and real leathers he wore.
Dan's every day driver was a old ass beat up pinto with the doors tied shut and windshield wipers that took two people to run (each person had to pull a string).I was fortunate enough to once get to ride in that mean machine up to a gas station to get a couple gallons of fuel for my can while riding at Dan's.
Dan's bike transporter was an old 1960ish beat to hell pickup truck with no exhaust.
Dan also solved his no loading ramp issue quickly, when he just said fuck it,
and used his bedroom door as a loading ramp (and yes he really did that).
Some side notes about Duct tape Dan.
Once watched Dan get into an argument with a race official about having to remove his kick stand,he literally got furious .
Seen him numerous times get into fights with his dad at the races and just throw his
bike into the back of his truck and brodie out of there.
Dan used to use a hibachi and would BBQ out the back of his pinto.
He once fed a friend of mine some old chicken and my friend ended up in the hospital from food poisoning. Dan's reply "I don't know why he ate it?".
Dan once rolled up on a 10 speed to a friend of mines Dad's mini mansion, who was pretty well off.Knocked on the door and said I'm here for a loan,I need to borrow $10,000.00 for dirt for my track. My friends Dad was in disbelief.
Once watched Dan holeshot the open class at a local AX (maybe 30ft start) and pull off all his tear offs and on the next lap try to pick one back up and try to put it on his goggles and crash while doing it.
An old friend of mine as a joke went up to Dan at the races and told him my little sister (who was 13) at the time was checking him out.Dan who was prolly 24 at the time went up to her and asked her out on a date in front of my parents. My Dad snatched him up and told him to get hell away from her.
As bad as it sounds,it was pretty comical.
The crazy thing is,all those stories above about Dan are 100% true.
typ2vw159 who posts on here can attest to how different ole Duct tape Dan was.
Could you share some more Duct Tape Dan stories? I got a good laugh from reading that.
I have a few stories about a guy named G.D.R., of self-created GDRacing. I'll type some up here in a little bit if you lay some more duct tape stories down!
Maybe typ2vw159 has a few about Duct tape Dan he would like to share.
The only one worth posting that I can think of is....
Is about a certain local and even AMA pro at one time, taking him to down town Portland and getting him a hooker. But I cant go into details about that one on here.
However, after that I heard he would spend his pay checks on hookers every weekend(I guess he got pretty hooked).
He was in his early to mid 20's when I knew him and he still lived at home ,and I would assume to this day he still does, heard his track was still there also.
The last i had seen of him was in 2001,he had a job going door to door passing out fliers for aluminum siding.
Dolan, makes Duct Tape Dan seem normal.
Also I dug up one of typ2vw159 's posts on Duct Tape Dan.
Here yah go...factory pilot.

""These are just a daily thing for the OG Duck tape Dan.
W0W ,I forgot about the pinto, after that he rode a 10 speed bike every where ,with no seat for a long time(for real).
I remember one time at woodland he broke his chain the old man freaked out on him at the riders meeting ,out came the door the old man luanched the bike in to the back of the truck.
And when Dan started to get in the back of the truck to tie it down the old man kicked him in the ass luanching him into the back of the truck.
Yelling at Dan "You hold that !@#$ing thing tell we get home" About a 25 minute drive away.
Seen a 91 KX500 he had tank dripded gas on the pipe and the rear brake hose was cut in half (you could tell it was a fresh cut by the oil all over the swing arm and wheel.
Funniest shit I ever seen he brought a CR 500 motor out and asked if could help him get it together. I said sure Dan throw it the box van and I will look at it,F'n thing looked like the inside of an oven.He had put it it an oven at 350-degrees for two hours burning the oil off it, so it would be clean when he took it apart. And he took it apart with a hammer.""
Or the time he was pounding on a cagiva motor in the parking lot on top of the mail box. That he rode there with the mountian bike with no seat.
The 80cc sprockets he drilled out and put on that CR500.
The 89 kx he lost the front brake cable guide and fork tube cover on. So he cut the brake hose off with a hacksaw. The suzki seat he wrapped with the kx cover and drilled holes in the frame to mount.
The Cr motor he bake in his oven at 350 for 2hrs.He said some told him to do it to make it go back together eazy.(He didnt know how to put a motor.) Take your motor out and put every thing in your oven but the old gasket thats what he did.EVERYTHING!
Rember him once pulling up to the box van after he raced the 1st moto and ask if we had an old back tire he could have.Jump out of the van to get one for him and hearPISS PISS PISS look over at his bike and it is dripen gas on the pipe.Told him to get the fen bomb out of here.He said he needs a rag and it dont leak on the pipe when i ride.
I got to stop here makes my feel like i am making shit up.LOL
Eddy your story is spot on Except for the bike. With no seat.
dan is a nice guy still has his track lets anybody ride there good mini track bring him gasLOL
Dude, you seriously need to get some pictures of him to post up ,if you ever stop by his place.
I looked on google earth several months back and seen his track was still there LOL.
I wonder if the neighbors and the passer by traffic still complain about all the dust?
And watching him try to talk to the police about the noise and dust was always great entertainment. He would look at the police with his non-thinking eyes.
What the ?
Enjoy.
H
Only if I had some photos & video content of him to add to it.
Here is a aerial view of his track.
Looks bigger these days.
The house with all the junk cars in front of it,is where the track used to go through the basement.
Saw him riding up I-5 Freeway to Woodland Mx with gas tank in hand... (no shit) doing 60 and passed us...
