MX53 front and 34 rear is my go-to setup for hard pack. The 53 front needs a good amount of air in it to work correctly. I think I was going as high as 14 last summer.
Don't bother with the 53 rear unless you're riding legit blue groove. No experience with the Pirellis or Bridgestones for me.
I would use the Bridgestone x31 front over the mx53. The 53 rear is ok. I haven’t tried the Bridgestone yet. The starcross midhard is probablya better all around rear than the 53.
MX14 or nothing
The Hoosier MX 25 is the best tire available and anyone that’s ridden them will agree (though maybe not publicly).

However, if you purchase Hoosier racing tires expecting Dunlop durability you’ll be disappointed. They’re spec race tires, and perform as such.
On pure hard pack their HMX rear performs so unbelievably well, most notably locking in during corner entrance where others will skate.

If you had a1983 CR 480 the m22- m23 combo were pretty good.
I did have a 1983 CR480. Can’t say I recall the tires.
