Nice bike - the desk and bench looks like mine lol (comforting)

I’m rearranging and it’s driving me nuts!   I have too much stuff….  😬

So I've got something I don't like about my new 24 FX, the map switch. I like that it's combined with the kill switch, but I think they need flipped on the placement. I cut my bars down for woods racing and had to move the assembly to the inboard side of the clutch perch. It's now awkward to hit the kill switch, I would prefer it to be where the map switch is. It's a small issue, but it's the only one I have so far.

Can you get just the rear shock body for the 2023 YZ450f? Yamaha parts fish looks like it makes you basically buy the whole shock. Somehow a decent chunk of threads got messed up on mine. So far it's okay can still swap springs and adjust sag etc. The other question is I am thinking the shock bodies are different for the 2023 and up but I was wondering if I could find and older model shock and use that body since the are cheaper and easier to find? Thanks.

Have you tried a metric thread file to fix the threads?

You can get a new shockbody from Technical Touch, part number is 120090008601. Available also as Kashima coated version.

"somehow" 😂

Do you have a photo of the mysteriously damaged threads? They must not be too bad if you're still able to adjust the spring. Tech tip, clean and then lubricant the threads before adjusting the lock rings. They can get pretty crusty and if there's sand in them it'll fuck up the threads.

They are totally missing in a spot like an inch or inch and half two rows. Thank you for the reply Smile

They are out of shock body's for 2 or 3 weeks, but the lady on the phone was super helpful. She said they are all the same 2018 to current so I can pick up an older shock and use that body if I had too. I have a thread chaser coming to today and a different spring coming. I'm going to try to clean up the threads and see what happens. I appreciate y'all's help.

I got the thread chaser from amazon that had 16 sizes on 4 square long tools, the 1.5 mm seemed to fit the best so I used it. Anyway the preload rings went from really hard to turn in that spot to spinning pretty good. It fixed a couple other bad spots too. It still looks ugly but I'm happy. Maybe it will work for a while. One kinda neat thing to remember is that with 1.5mm pitch threads, every complete turn compresses the spring 1.5mm. That might help to know how much your spring is compressed after it is installed.

That's cool to know. Thanks.

After more ride time on my 24 FX, this is probably the best front brake on a Yamaha I've ever had. Is this something other's have noticed on the 23+ bikes? I can do single finger stoppies, which I don't think I've ever been able to do on any of my previous bikes except maybe my Honda. I remember it having a really good front brake.

Can you do a 1 finger stoppie? I see no reason to make any changes to it because it's really good. For reference, my 24 stock front is better than my 19 with a steel braided line and solid rotor. You may try back bleeding yours a few times an see if it makes a difference.

maybe i should have tried that from the begining but the steel line is on now, and it feels great but the first month it just felt squishy and a little under powered.  maybe i should have bled it but it was brand new and i just swapped the line.
