The defeat of journalistic integrity at the hands of degenerates like Slowie and Cooksey make me very sad.

Hope Jo is OK.

I'm not even a normal defender but the guy literally said "i heard". He didn't claim anything beyond that and people are on here vilifying him for stating that. He isn't a journalist. He's a fan. He can say what he wants about what he hears. I say this as someone who has a degree in writing and took many hours of journalism classes.

So now, new speculations: HRC fill in rider or not?

Will Slowie or Cooksey have the answer first? 🤪

Mcelrath or even Deano… maybe even Vialle will take a shot at the west title! Or none…?

Hope he heals up soon

Thank Goodness!!!!!! Surgery on broken vertebras is horrible, but he's ok overall. Hopefully he can get on the bike before the Arlington SX and be able to do the East series and compete for the title. Such a great dude and the sport is better with him in it.

The way I read it is that 3 months is the bare minimum for recovery until he can even start with light training again. The first east race is at the end of February already, there is no way they'll rush it for SX. Outdoors would be great, but right now the only important thing is that he gets back to full health, back injuries are no joke.

Bummer for Jo and for the sport, seemed like he just had a lot of momentum going. Get well mate!

I think most were upset with the fact that he took someone's misfortune and rushed to his social media platforms mostly for views and content interaction. That's in bad taste.

It's a free country and he is certainly allowed to do his thing, but the guy often lacks integrity, ethics and in this case not being considerate of Jo's situation.

It sucks that Shimoda got seriously hurt, I don't wish that apon anyone. Thankfully, with some time he will make a full recovery.

All the best to Jo and also the first responders who took care of him...a big thank you to them.

I'm not a fan of his, but wouldn't that be the case for any other person/outlet to post it?

so this is example #894849 of something very news-worthy happening in our sport, rumors begin to fly, and some "lower level" media guy reports it with the disclaimer of "This is what I'm hearing. No confirmation at all" (basically). Vital crucifies this person as being human garbage.

Then - BAM - the news is confirmed. No stories from anyone within the REAL "moto-media" (who you know were hearing the same rumors AND because of their bromance relationships have almost immediately confirmed the story is true).

Then what do we get? PR from the team.

Downvote me.

Now for the good news…

He’s out for 3 months or more…so…when does he return…what does he race…?

I don’t think he’s likely to be racing in time for 250 East (2/21 starts a 9 week run). So, he returns for the Nationals if all goes well…and he’s a bad ass…he’s gonna be back like a warrior…so, I’m thinking Nationals or some East 250 SX if he has a typical Jo go at this injury. Hell, maybe he gets on a 450 for SX just for kicks…?

All I know is this: sounds like he’s OK and we get him back in time for the Nationals.

Note: 250 SX Regions have 10:races each when counting all the E/W Shootouts.

East = 10 races over 12 weeks starting 2/21.

West = 10 races over 18 weeks starting 1/10.

That is because real media adheres to the basic principles of journalism. Truth, accuracy, facts, that sort of thing.

Nobody who actually gets paid to deliver news is going to release anything without properly looking into it, especially when it's a serious subject like Jo's situation.

Bummer for Jo.

Strikes me as the type of injury that could linger mentally much longer than the physical part.

Slowie hears a rumor. He reports it with disclaimers of "This is unconfirmed at this time." Have you ever watched the evening news when they're discussing a "breaking story"? The words "We're getting unconfirmed reports of........" are used all the time.

Secondly, if you don't think ML or Lewis knew that this was fact within an hour of the accident, you're delusional.

Exactly. Years ago I ended up with compression fractures in my C5/6/7 and T3 vertebrae from a snowboard accident. Made a 100% recovery health wise, but I am far more cautious on my board than I used to be.

Damn Jo, hope he heals up.

Still don't know why this sport is so secretive.

I think we all sensed there was something wrong  since rumors have a little bit of the truth to them. But we were all hoping it wasn’t true.

I have no clue who did or didn't know within an hour. I said nothing about that.

Slow people enjoy Slowie's content, that's something I'm not delusional about 😆

Not clear yet. It could be a single fracture that was taken care of via vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty which is usually a 6 week turnaround. Beumer had a fusion.

we don’t know. It was referred to as displaced vertebrae. Beaumer had a burst fracture.
