If it was so awesome before, and everyone loved the gear so much, what happened that they quit making moto gear in the first place, and had to make a comeback?

Burnout?

A coke problem?

The IRS?

A large breasted woman with expensive tastes?

Maybe they didn't want to jump on the pink wagon?

I'm kinda thinking they just could not survive the bubble bursting
in the late 70's.

Anyone remember the White Brothers?

70's? they were blowing and going in the 80's too.

Awesome article...it is the answer to guyb's question. It is weird because jt og says in ritas words they got bought out, but in that article John seemed happy with the decision to swtich to paintball and drop motocross, that he was tired of paying rider salaries and losing creative license.

How long did they stay on, or are they still on at jt, after they were bought out?

That's not a rhetorical question. Be that what it may, I never understood why they just disappeared all of a sudden. You would think the moto gear market was already pretty saturated as it is. It's free enterprise, of course, but I bet the other gear companies aren't overjoyed.

Marc Blanchard is not part of One Industries anymore (since March I think). JT should re-hire him as soon as possible... Don't know from whom comes the idea for the Bailey replica, but that's exactly the kind of product I was expecting from JT for its come-back (or his return, cause Dray said in a french interview: " JT racing, it's ME!!!"). A modern cut plus a classy design...

The new JTRacing gear is made better then most of the other brands it seems and it looks great.
Im loving the gear and the new Helmet is super light and fits way better than my Troy Lee hemet. It might just be the shap of my head.

I remember JT really jumping the shark when they hired Rick Johnson. Their gear went from OK to fugly in a hurry, and it didn't help that RJ got injured and lost a lot while wearing it.

There was way better-looking gear on the market from Fox, AXO and Answer at the time. Combine all those factors, plus a burgeoning new market in paintball, new owners, etc... that's how brands disappear.

Anyway, the mx bubble burst right around the early '90's when Japan went pop and paintball went large. JT gear was THE best to be had, if you ever had the 80's stuff you wouldnt be asking silly questions. Its not really nostalgia, more about quality, functional mx clothing that didnt look like it came from a fag party.
Right? Does he want an answer?

seems like I remembered an interview where the owner said he got burnt out on competing with FOX and the lack of loyalty of riders, just jumping to the highest bidder. When it's not fun and the profits aren't there it's time to move on.

Regardless of the past, have you seen the new '17 gear? Some of the best stuff out there in my opinion!
