Hate to post another one of these sad posts but you guys have helped lift me up through some dark times....

Been a rough five days to say the least and it's hard to believe it's been one year since my LOVING Wife Jan passed away after her courageous four and a half year battle with cancer. She fought valiantly until the end and never once did she ever complain, the only thing I ever heard her say was "this is not fair".  πŸ˜”

Our last communication was when she was in the hospice bed in our home as I bent over her bed and I had to give her the morphine dosage at 2am. I was in tears 😒 and she felt my presence and woke up.

She told me "oh Gary it's gonna be okay".....

That is something I'm never gonna forget. 😭 There are days I think to myself. How I can continue on without her at this stage in my life.

She was the most positive person I've ever known in my life. Always smiling always having something good to say and I'm not just saying that because I was with her 24 years. Anyone who met her would agree. I learned a lot from her on how to be a better person and accept people for who they are. Sometimes it's not easy in this crazy world we live in but I have caught myself more than once "what would Jan do or say?"

I miss her a lot and think of her daily. But I know in my heart, she would not want me to be sad 😒for the rest of my life.....

Jan would want me to be happy and I am trying to forge on, but it hasn't been easy, especially lately after I lost our dog Bailey a few days ago.

Rest in peace, my sweet Jan. You are gone, but will never be forgotten. ❀️😒

Got chills reading this man. It’s rare to have what you had remember that. And if she told you it would be ok, you have to honor her as best you can and make sure it’s so!!

You said it Gary ... you have to keep going to keep her legacy alive. Jan wanted you to keep going but not for her for yourself. You have her memory to keep enlightening people about, people like us that never had the opportunity to get to know her. But through your stories here we have just a glimpse into how wonderful a person she will always be to you. That sir is her loving gift to you. Anytime you are getting down, just throw another story up on here. We'll read it and have more understanding of your wonderful lives together.

Make the best of this glorious day.

The first year of the death of a loved one, family member, friend is always the hardest. You have to go through holidays, and special occasions without them for the first time. As sad as it is for you, remember how lucky you were to have someone who loved you and made your life special. As a 66yr old divorced man, I would give anything to have what you had, even with the loss, than to be here and never experience that kind of love.

Gary, you have my condolences. I don't know what else to say except that you are clearly lucky to have had her in your life. Godspeed, Jan.

I have to say you guys are the best and your replies help me carry on like you wouldn't believe as depression, sadness and loneliness are something I am dealing with right now.

For those who said that she seemed like a great solid girl--You are absolutely right. There was never one time that she ever played any drama games with me or was mad at me, in our 23 years together, and I probably gave her the opportunity to be upset more than once. But that was not Jan.

One of my good friends told me, I'll never find another one like her and after meeting a few women in the last year, no truer words could be said.

The loss of Bailey just compounded my sadness. It's just Maggie and I now and we're trying our best as we both miss Jan and Bailey tremendously. 😒

Thanks again love you guys. πŸ™
