Anybody got experience on race cups on the Kawi?
Just found this thread and wanted to give some feedback to anyone trying to make a decision about the race cups. I have had them in a 2019 350sxf for around 30 hours of riding (all off-road, woods and desert) and have tested with and without them one weekend to the next and they give a very noticeable difference in ride character. I struggle with mid-corner oversteer, front end confidence and traction at turn-in and these totally work to fix that. In 2016 Ktm went from a 63.9 degree head angle to 63.5 so essentially you are getting most of that back with the cups. I haven't run the numbers for the Ktm, they aren't readily available like in the mtb world where you can plug these changes into a geo calculator to see what else will be changed so im not sure for certain but im guessing we are getting more trail with the race cups and therefore more stability in addition to the increase in wheelbase (specifically front center/front wheelbase also not talked about in moto) and therefore the front end will carry less of the overall weight of the bike making it more stable still. 23.5 offset clamps will theoretically (again I don't have any numbers to run and barely know what im looking at even if I did) lose trail and therefore make the bike more likely to oversteer in slow speed corners but will move the front wheel forward away from the center of mass and therefore mimic slightly the race cups change and make the bike more stable through effectively moving weight rearward but again without the beneficial increase in trail we are actually looking for. when you add offset to clamps you also move your handlebars forward and your bodyweight along with it, another thing to consider. A lowering/performance link/less shock spring preload and more sag will change head angle as well but will change many other aspects of the bike and suspension performance so are not a great solution unless you are also looking for help in those areas.
Yes, they are far too expensive for what they are but there is no other tuning tool that will give you the same results and those that do will have larger unintended affects on the rest of the bike/suspension.
I was able to run the stock Ktm steel bearing cap and seal with the fcp cups, as mentioned the oring and cap fcp gives you is not a great system.
I'm trying to wrap my head around the changes mentioned (for a '24 ktm 350) and I'm wondering if there would be any benefit to race cups paired with aftermarket clamps? I have my Luxon's set to 24mm off set, but I do succumb to oversteer unless I really command the bike to turn how I want it to.
I've yet to play with fork height, but I'm curious to your guys' thoughts.
The bike feels really stable compared to stock, but it would be nice not top have to contend with oversteer

Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
I would try different fork heights before any other purchase.
Do you still prefer the 24mm offset over the stock 22mm even with the oversteer?
Did you try the Luxon clamps at 22 and 23?
