Insane was right. Triple/tripled the new six pack on his second lap. Then was quading into the old six pack. (60ft span off of a 2ft launch and a 35ft run from the apex of the corner)

Also broke his 2 yr. old track record by 4 seconds!

I remember this kid being the next big thing, and in all the mags as a junior. Did he struggle with injuries when he turned pro, or did he just not have any luck with rides? I only ever remember him having support rides and that is it. I did unfortunately spend some time away from the sport thought !!

If you ever get a chance take one of his classes. Absolutely the best teacher hands down. Class guy, one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

I remember Pastrana saying Buckelew used to crush him in the AM's but not sure why he struggled in the Pro's. I hear this quite a bit. There was a local guy here that used to stomp in the AM's. Several LL titles etc. and just struggled as a pro. As I think about it more and more, I think guys just peak at different times. Some are mini stars and struggle as pro's and some were barely known in the AM's and are multi time national champs.

I met Justin at Glen Helen in 01 or 02 and he seemed like a very nice guy at the time.Kinda fell off the map after a few years.

It's good to hear he's doing good and teaching others. Buckelew was sure fun to watch ride when he was on minis. Some make it in the pros, some don't, but more importantly he is still a winner in life.

I think he had a knee blow out on him and he was never the same after that.

I chose my racing number, 158 because of him when he first hit the pro ranks for YOT. Awesome guy.
