I often hear the reason we have such rampant sandbagging in our sport is that these kids aren't ready for the Pros or even the A level.

But yet in other sports, these kids have little trouble making the transition.

So what is so different between these other sports and Moto?

Either everyone is too lazy to click the link I posted, no one really gives a shit, or no one wants to attempt to rationalize keeping racers at the lower levels longer than they should be.

Here is a portion of the link above:

HOUSTON -- Fifteen-year-old Ryan Harrison beat Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 6-4, 6-3 in the U.S. Clay Court Championship on Monday to become the 10th player in the Open Era to win a main-draw match before his 16th birthday.

The Texan is also the youngest player to get a main-draw win on the ATP Tour since Rafael Nadal, the current No. 2 in the world, won his first tour match in Mallorca in 2002, and the third player this decade to do it before his 16th birthday.

Richard Gasquet of France was 15 when he won his first match in Monte Carlo in 2002.

Harrison, who will turn 16 on May 7, won 17 of 18 points during one stretch of the first set. He closed out the set on his first opportunity by breaking Cuevas' serve at 15. In the second set, he faced only one break point.

Not sure what your argument is. The rule is you can't turn Pro until you are 16. Most would agree this is a good rule, and it could even be raised a few years. Moto history is full of people who are immediately successful in their rookie season.

Are you suggesting we start booting kids to the Pros at 15?

Well, the rule isn't really defined..I think you can ride A at any age but not PRO until 16? I dunno.

But I am more getting to the point of holding riders back whether it be at the Amateur level in the B class or even holding them back to ride multiple years in the 125 class, when it is routine for other sports that has Champions at much younger ages.

What is so different between moto and these other sports?

Two French kings died from tennis related episodes--Louis X of a severe chill after playing and Charles VIII after being struck with a ball.

Barcia is part of the new wave. Be afraid, be very afraid....the B class at the Tomahawk LL qualifier was like watching a pro national five years ago.
Kids like Cooper Webb, the Trettels, Eli Tomac (just a few off the top of my head) are going to take it up yet another notch.
I don't see huge problems with the current system, other than kids that get only one or two years in the pros to prove themselves. I would hate to see some kids like Boni, Tickle and Hackley to be without jobs because their are no rides.

I agree, I think it might help with the sandbagging as well, get more people into the A class since they have 2 extra years in the AM's.

Mini Dad's second mortgage and his playing card sized deck of maxed out credit cards say junior has to be full boat by 16. Can't make it to 18 at that level of financial responsibility. Whatever happened to the "Expert" class? Is that like so last century or something? LOL

then mini dad needs to learn to handle his money better if he cant make it to 18! trust me, the fast ones, the mini dad will find a way to make it to 18. even then there's nothing saying they can race pro as alot of tracks are AMA rules or or lightly enforced... i agree that 18 should be the minumum for going pro. but they could consider something like a "red shirt" pro at 17 that can only race a very limited race schedule...
