The whole hiding threads and banning people is the biggest crock a shit, it's like the nerds took over the playground and starting running to the teacher to whine about someone who's "being mean" and the teacher rather than telling them to man up and suck it the fuck up or walk away sides with the whiners and feels the need to remove the offending party from the "classroom", except non moto isn't the classroom, it's the playground 😄 boys will be boys let em work it out. If something written on a forum upsets you that much walk away and go play with some other kids, don't click on it if it's pissing you off, just go do something else. What's that term ? If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen ?  I'm starting to get offended by offended people LOL

Your offendedness offends me.

I just like making pussies clutch their pearls. Vital is good practice for me talking shit on the job site to my coworkers😂

What’s funny is, the Karen’s at work who can’t stand me, are the 5 percent the other 95 percent of people I interact with can’t stand. Kinda like here 😂

I realize I don't post enough that anyone even notices when I'm not here...but I got a temporary ban and I honestly have no idea what I even said/did?   I'm sure ML saw something he didn't like...and he runs the joint, so I'll play by his rules and deal with how he does things...but I was honestly surprised when I tried to log in and couldn't.

I’ve not been bothered by TG or Joey in the slightest, but I respect ML’s decision. I think the forum can police itself to some extent. If someone says something way out of line and is called on it by others and that puts a stop to it, that is the ideal and it would be great if that kind of self correction could normally work. Sometimes it can work, and sometimes it can make things worse. If it’s bad enough, then moderation can be appropriate. It’s a judgment call and it’s not always easy, and it’s a no win situation - no matter what, someone will disagree with how it’s handled. I’d err on the side of giving a long leash to members who are trying to productively contribute.

There are sometimes trolls that aren’t interested in dialogue and are only here to offend. That Jeffro802 member who was banned for his trolling in the Charlie Kirk thread is a prime example. The best way to deal with him would be to ignore him completely - don’t engage at all. But people did engage and he was clearly just trying to offend so ML was right to ban him. It’s not so much that I care about being offended; rather, it’s the fact that a person is only trying to offend and renders a thread so dysfunctional that it’s not worth participating. When someone does that, they gotta go, in my opinion.

If a thread is such a dumpster fire that it’s embarrassing, then look at it from ML’s perspective: Do you want prospective members and advertisers looking at threads - especially in the moto section - and being so off put that they decide that Vital is a cesspool that they don’t want to be associated with? I think that people should expect some wackiness in non moto, and it’s easy to avoid (I was a Vital member for years before I even looked at anything other than the moto section). I take “moto related” to be the title main attraction and probably worth keeping a bit more sanitized.

I don’t envy the job of moderating and I appreciate the efforts to balance competing interests of letting members speak their mind while maintaining forum standards. It’s not an easy balancing act.

Edit : when I say it’s worth keeping moto related more sanitized,  I mean more than non moto, I don’t mean more than it is now.

Well put MPJC, you always seem to throw calm common sense into these posts. I'm sure ML is tired of it lol. But it does seem like the "Willing to discuss differences" members become collateral damage when he's had it. I can see that

So when I asked Michael why I got relieved of my "submit" button. I was told this was the post.

"Just when you think the left can't get any more vile, they do. How people can think it's OK to kill people that don't agree with them is beyond me. What the fuck is wrong with people that promote this shit? Do we have any chance of undoing some of this hatred? Because that's what it is, hatred of our fellow man.

RIP CK, I will pray for your family. Your movement will only grow stronger because people will honor your movement by spreading your message.

And no, it's not the gun that did this!!!!!!!!!"

Now, I'm not upset at Michael. I don't agree with Michael but I also have no clue what he deals with all day. I know there's a lot more shitty stuff that gets posted in "Moto" with out any slap on the wrist. And in fairness to Michael he does allow us to discuss things that actually matter in the bigger picture. And while I'd rather not have such a large percentage of my time dedicated to knowing what's going on in politics. I think the politics have become so overwhelming to our lives that we can't get away from it. This happens to be a pretty decent place to share sans a few nutwings.

While you look good in scrub gowns, you really ought to limit your time in them.

Pretty sure that I am not the only one that thought about green, and Joey over in the Moto section thread about  Anyone looking for dirt in SoCal…… The Democrats would have been their answer 🤣.

Idk dude. I think ML did him a favor. He’s always had good insight but the last few months he’s been unhinged a bit. Inserting and attempting to dominate every single thread in non moto and always devolving the conversation into trash. He needed a break, he was starting to turn into lungbutter

Dearest Cheese Burger Head. Please do not ever disparage the beloved Greenie.

I doubt anyone could look at your posting history and think you’re generally a troublemaker or problem. You make constructive contributions to discussions and the forum is better with you in it. I don’t presume to speak for Michael, but if I had to guess, I doubt that he’d dispute my assessment. As far as the post in question, it was the context that drove that moderating decision. That was a unique moment - I get what Michael was doing. I’d rather not say too much about it as I respect his objectives and decisions and think his motives were noble and justifiable. But yes, I agree that we often see much worse with no consequences. On most days, I’d think that post wouldn’t have attracted any consequences either.

If you guys havent ridden the single track and washes north of town-mesquite-(by the dump) you are missing out!  That's my favorite place to ride anywhere (especially on those rare wet sand days)...We make a couple or three trips a winter down there to ride.

I think the politics have become so overwhelming to our lives that we can't get away from it. This happens to be a pretty decent place to share sans a few nutwings.

Well, if once in a while I get the relieved of my submit button for something I don't agree with, I'm OK with that. Michael has a difficult job because he chose to let us discuss sensitive issues. I am thankful for that and try to not make his job overly difficult. We do also sometimes get emotional about certain events. I think what the agitators don't get is that when people want to have a discussion, it's much more interesting to discuss with someone that thinks different. If I wanted to hear my own opinion I'd just talk to myself. Their nonstop incessant comments do nothing but stifle real conversation. IMO

You got thrown out with the bath water.

Michael probably figured anyone with X amount of posts in the Charlie Kirk thread was an agitator.

I've never found any of your posts to be personal attacks.

I honestly try very very very hard to keep my post polite and void of personal attacks.  I just do my best to disagree respectfully, even if strongly.  Oh well...I don't post a ton anyway (I post a lot in spurts, I guess), so a week off doesn't affect me much anyway...

Sandberm656 nailed it when he said “got thrown out with the bath water”. I disagree that it had anything to do with number of posts. My impression was that he was looking specifically at posts that placed blame for the shooting on a political party.

Edit: just like I said to TM, nothing you posted would have normally been problematic, and I think you are as you described yourself - generally respectful. It was the context. ML wanted to send a message and set the tone for the thread.

This is how I feel as well. It’s one of the best things about this forum. I know I say very little on Facebook because co-workers are there and I really need to censor myself around some of them on several topics (though I’m the one that’s right, of course 😛). There’s diversity of opinion here and people seem to feel like it’s a forum where we can speak fairly freely. I don’t think we want to lose that. The world doesn’t need another echo chamber.

If you guys havent ridden the single track and washes north of town-mesquite-(by the dump) you are missing out!  That's my favorite place to ride anywhere (especially on those rare wet sand days)...We make a couple or three trips a winter down there to ride.

been riding those washes and single track since I was a kid, really good stuff.  Santa Clara is insanely good up by St. George but kind of tricky to find the good stuff.  anymore I'm lucky to ride 2-3 times total per year. but I like to pretend to remember how fun it was

I’m not one to wear the same stinky hat everyday lol. I have over 25 hats. Some for fishing. Some for work. Some for posing at the hospital 😉

If I was sponsored, it would most likely be by the orthopedic office I get my work done at…

Exactly. I actually oversaw all of the plumbing and, installed the medical gas at the place I get my orthopedic work done. I also did the compressed air for their pneumatic doors and, tools. Along with the Autoclave for cleaning the equipment.

My wife wasn’t happy all the nurses knew me but, the one always brings me a Sprite and, a Kit Kat when I’m coming out of anesthesia. After this pic was taken my wife noticed the Sprite said, “ ooohhhh, you’re little GF still works here huh”?!? Kit Kat wrappers were just outside the frame.

Oh, well… 🙃
