Have a 09 CRF450, bought it a year ago and have done all the regular maintenance. Was riding on Sunday and the motor was running perfect as it always has for me and then I stopped for a break. I then went back out and the power randomly started to cut out. I ended up calling it a day because it was nearing the end anyways, but I did a quick check to look and see if all the connection were good and they appeared to be. Anyone have this problem before? As I said before, the proper maintenance has been done, including air filter, oil filter, top end etc. Also, I DID NOT leave the choke on, so that can be ruled out. Really came out of nowhere so any guidance would be appreciated before I bring it into my shop and let the bills start to pile up.

Thanks in advance.

Spark, Fuel, Compression. Check spark 1st (easiest)

We've replaced several honda fuel pumps. If you know someone who has the proper tools test the fuel pressure. Or if someone has the same bike ask if you can swap parts to test it out.

i suspect the fuel pump or filter as well. you can test it most likley by allowing it to fill a beaker of some sort and the spec wll be so many CC's of fuel for so many seconds operating.

Fuel filter and I have also replaced two stators recently.

Had a customer that had one do what you are talking about. I brought it to the shop, checked fuel flow, checked electrical and decided it was stator. Put new stator in it and he rode the next weekend and it started acting up. Brought it back and put new fuel filter in it and it fired up and ran good. Figured I would put the old stator back in because it seemed to be fuel afterall. Got the old stator back in and it wouldn't start. Put the new stator back in and it started. So he had stator issue and fuel filter both. Has run fine since then. Had another one with starting issues and did the fuel filter. When you cut the filter open it will be gray and nasty looking. After putting the filter in it started. Went to the track and it wouldn't start. Put a new stator in it and it started. Went the next weekend fired up fine, ran good and then the rod went.
