I believe this is where the problems have arose. Once we declared war on Christianity and declared America and white europeoons as the root of all evil and the country itself inherently racist , we lost all shared values, we lost all idea of unity.

we cannot agree on basic values that we once agreed on for our entire existence, we cannot agree on anything/

It wasn’t long ago you could trust people to pump their gas first, and pay once the total came. Now you have to lock deodorant up entirely. How did this sense of morality disappear? What’s changed?

Perfect example is the woman on the train getting stabbed and nobody protecting her. Once we cannot on shared values, once we don’t believe America is worth protecting, once women are taught to hate men, race to hate race, left to hate right, once the shared values disappear, you get the train situation.

so I ask , what’s changed since the days when you could pump gas first and be trusted to pay after here in America?

Whats changed is that we when from a more conservative and God fearing society to a more liberal and progressive one that looks down on God and thus collectively our values when down the toilet.

I had a guy argue with me that it’s bigotry if a guy who’s dating isn’t open to dating a trans woman. He said that it’s no different than refusing to date someone of a different race. He was dead serious, much to my amazement. I thought it was the stupidest thing I’d ever heard. Neither is bigotry because nobody has to date anyone and nobody is entitled to anyone’s affection. Since when do we have to justify our choices regarding who we’re attracted to? It’s absurd. Besides, It’s not really a choice (which is what the gay community has been saying for decades). If you’re not attracted to someone you can’t, by sheer force of will, change that, nor does it make sense to want to. Oh, now you have to force yourself to like the 300 pound transsexual who likes you -  you don’t want to be a hateful bigot now, do you? This is wokeness on steroids. Sometimes  I feel like I must have hit my head and woke up in an alternate universe.

My response to your friend would’ve been, I’m expected to respect that a person is wired to be attracted to certain individuals seems like a double standard.  I am also wired in such a way that I’m only attracted to certain group of individuals being, persons capable of giving me children. Why can’t that be respected?

My response is more just saying I don’t need a reason to not date someone and it’s absurd to expect me to need one. If I’m not interested for any reason whatsoever then that’s the end of it. A polite “no thanks” is the most anyone should expect and just leave it at that.

We all have values that we live our life by. I should not have to accept your values the same as you don't have to accept mine. All this should be true until your values negatively affect me or visa versa. Don't shove your shit in my face and try to influence my kids that your fetish is "normal". And I won't take your kids and influence them that you're "not normal", Oh wait, you can't have kids because you cut off that part of your body.

Trans issue from my perspective.

I took my friends who flew up from California to a distillery that I did the plumbing at. They asked about my work while we were in Seattle and, I figured I’d show them since the place was close.

The owner recognized me right away, happily greeted me and, my friends. They ordered their drinks and, we sat down. After a few minutes I glanced over at my buddy and, he says, what the fuck. At the bar was a trans male that looked like a body builder.  I asked my friend what happened. That mother fucker just winked at me. Now, the tranny comes over to the table all sassy and shit then says, one of you wanna buy a girl a drink.

We all lean back in our seats, give the nod to each other, stand up and, all wave to the owner then, walk out. Top it off with the tranny now yelling, homophobes.

Now, the old me would’ve jumped across the table and, ripped the wig off that individual. We’re in a straight bar. Minding our own business. The people I was with, aren’t ones to play with that shit.

The problem I have is, if that’s how you roll, stay in your fucking lane. I thought they had those types of bars to meet likeminded people. It almost feels like a set up. So, when they set you off, you’re also charged with a hate crime while they play the victim.

You were born a male. Aftermarket parts will never change that regardless of how many surgeries you’ve had. Those surgeries do not make you a woman. Me not being attracted to a male with tits and a wig doesn’t make me phobic or, a purveyor of hate. I’m just staying in my lane.

You think you’re a girl. Great.  Just stay in your fucking lane and, quit forcing your new identity on people.

Some of the emphatic insanity that I’ve seen and heard from these people seems to only enforce the realization that they’re “not quite right”.

But, I digress.

Always enjoy your perspectives.

your post reminds me of the movie Detroit Rock City.  i've never liked KISS, not even a little bit, but i fuckin' love that movie.  it's a 1-2 watch per year for me. the religious mom, the rebellious teenagers, the road-trip, it's got it all.

and Maiden fuckin rocks.  Trooper gets me going no matter my mood.  The Protomen have a really badass cover of it, it's different but in a good way.

on the tranny thing, i couldn't give two fucks what someone wants to be as long as they just live their lives and let everyone else live theirs.  unfortunately that's not the case and the "movement" has to shove it down everyone's throats, make everyone accept it. children included. and that to me is the biggest indication that it's a mental illness.  no sane human would force anything on a child.  yet here we are.

Jam: It's a teenage girl walking along the side of the highway. I mean, they, they, they make scary movies that start out like that.

Trip: Hey, but, but they make porno movies that start out like that too, man.

Love that movie. 😄

Peely, I’m giving you a homework assignment:  KISS’ debut album in all its lo-fi glory.  Sure, it’s got a couple of filler tunes (I’m looking at you “Nothing to Lose” and “Kissing Time”), but classics like “Strutter”, “Deuce”, “Cold Gin”, and the Peter Criss-sung “Black Diamond” absolutely make this album a classic.  I’ll need your report by Monday COB…

Tom Snyder’s interview with Kiss is really entertaining - Ace is drunk and won’t stop laughing, which annoys Gene and Paul. It’s hilarious.

I agree with the sentiment of letting people be who or what they want. What I object to is the idea that “either you agree with and enthusiastically support everything I want to believe about myself or you’re committing violence against me” mentality that I object to. Supposedly “not affirming” equals eliminating. It’s not just nonsense, it’s dangerous nonsense.

We live in a time where unhealthy, immoral, and even flat-out irrational behavior is being dressed up, softened, and sold as “normal.” And here’s the danger: what we normalize, we eventually accept. What we accept, we begin to celebrate. And what we celebrate, the next generation copies without question.

When society shrugs at things that destroy health, tear apart families, or spit in the face of common sense, the damage doesn’t happen overnight—it creeps in quietly, one compromise at a time. Normalizing dysfunction doesn’t make it harmless. It just makes us numb to the harm.

Not everything deserves to be mainstreamed. Some things should stay on the margins because they are marginal—dangerous, corrosive, or simply wrong. If we lose the ability to call something unhealthy, immoral, or nonsensical, then we lose the ability to defend truth, virtue, and common sense.

Normalization isn’t a definition for progress when the thing being normalized leads to decline.

Stop normalizing garbage.

Unhealthy. Immoral. Irrational. Call it what it is. When you dress it up and call it “normal,” you’re not being kind—you’re planting landmines for the next generation.

Here’s the playbook:

First, society tolerates it.

Then, society celebrates it.

Finally, society punishes anyone who dares question it.

That’s not progress. That’s decay dressed as progress.

Every time we normalize what is destructive, we trade truth for lies, virtue for vice, and common sense for chaos. And the fallout isn’t abstract—it shows up in broken families, broken communities, and broken people.

I'd recommend the quasi live "Kiss Alive" . It's got most of those songs the way they were meant to sound . It was my introduction to Kiss and when I heard the studio albums after the fact they sounded thin and weak to my 10 year old ears .

And personally I somewhat don’t accept that level of live and let live attitude because that’s the exact amount of compassion and looseness around morals and values that allowed this at all. “They” weaponized our level of compassion and patience against us.  Things were traditional and strict and sacred for a reason. It worked.

All of these individual freedoms and openness to anything and everything at the individual level sounds nice on the surface. And that’s why the woke movement can fight every single value proposition with such conviction

But what they fail to see is what’s good for the individual isn’t always good for the family, community, or society.

Americans choosing work over families may value an individual but it hasn’t benefited their family or society.

When you look at the individual moral issues through a family focused lense (what lense is better to view it through on the whole than that?) the answers to so many of these issues change.

A simple and concise example of this right here.

I work with a woman who is always stressed about her career, constantly wants to advance. She has a 2 year old at home and is married. Her husband earns over 200/ year, and she earns roughly 80/yr.

Their kid is in day care 5 days a week. They go to the gym before work. So the child is in daycare the majority of the time.

They have chosen to value career and themselves above their child. There’s no way to spin it other than that. She has told me, he makes enough to easily support the family, and yet she continues to want to climb and fight and spend her energy in corporate America rather than at home raising her child.

their child will be raised by strangers. This is a tiny example of the exact movement away from family, faith, and community values and towards the individualistic values that the woke progressive movement has pushed.

That scenario should be an easy one to see the correct answer if your values are in the correct place.

How anyone can argue career is more important than your family is just flat out wrong. You cannot have equal emphasis on both. You have to choose one at times.

I got on board in '76 so I was a few years late to the party.  Destroyer/RARO era.  By '77 had everything they ever made and every poster ever printed on the wall.  Went to the Houston show in Sept '77 that is still on Youtube.  Stood in a loooong line all day at Texas Tapes & Records for them tickets.   Zero regrets,  there was not ANY band bigger in the entire world than they were in 1977.

@TXDirt  and @30minmotos I’m far from agreeing with everything you’re saying but I want you to have the right to say it. What the far left - especially the trans activists who use the affirm me or you’re hateful arguments - are essentially doing is trying to make it so that traditional conservative or evangelical Christian worldviews are, by definition, hateful. It needs to be made plain and obvious that that’s what they are doing and there needs to be pushback grounded in principles of freedom of religion and conscience.

I don’t want religion or traditional values imposed on people but I certainly want people to be able to live that way if they wish. I don’t want to get into a debate about religion or morality - my point is about freedom, not who’s worldview is true.

I’ll piggy back on that and ask why there are zero tax breaks for stay-at-home parents. The code rewards dual income and disincentives families who choose to have a parent available 24x7.

Republicans need to take the lead on this. There’s almost zero value in going all-in on fringe stuff like transgender issues, as that group will destroy itself. You want to be the party of family values?  Start with the wallet. Make it less painful to give up that second job.

I had a couple of friends in HS whose rooms were KISS shrines. One even had KISS album cover carpet!

I agree with the sentiment of letting people be who or what they want. What I object to is the idea that “either you agree with and enthusiastically support everything I want to believe about myself or you’re committing violence against me” mentality that I object to. Supposedly “not affirming” equals eliminating. It’s not just nonsense, it’s dangerous nonsense.

isn’t there? 90k as a single filer doesn’t go as far as 90k as a married filer right? And if you have a kid obviously the 90k goes further yet with the child tax credit and whatever else they give ya. Why isn’t it more pronounced is a fair question.

And @MPJC  I love what you’re saying and how you’re saying it, I’m so dang close to fully agreeing. I would just like to see if there is a way we can frame it to agree or to actually propose something that the country could move forward with. I’d like to say there’s probably something like 4 key principles that made America the greatest country ever at one point. And I think anything that is directly at odds with those 4 key points should be strictly forbidden from being pushed as “good” while key American values are pushed as “evil”

Wokeism is directly at odds with American values

Islam directly at odds with American values

Marxism

Communism

And maybe we can name 50 other things.

It should be treason or treated as a terrorist group to teach things which are directly at odds to American values as the “good” way. I’m not saying teaching Marxism should be illegal. But teaching Marxism in a way that makes it seem altruistic and trashing capitalism as evil should be treasonous.

If we can’t agree on a few core American principles we will never have a country anyone values or willing to fight for again.

your post reminds me of the movie Detroit Rock City.  i've never liked KISS, not even a little bit, but i fuckin' love that movie.  it's a 1-2 watch per year for me. the religious mom, the rebellious teenagers, the road-trip, it's got it all.

and Maiden fuckin rocks.

"No other success can compensate for failure in the home."  ~ David O. McKay

Society is way way off from that...society largely believes "no other success can compensate for failure in the work place"...and I agree 1000% with your assessment of our priorities in our society over children. We are now about two generations into our society doing that...and we are seeing the affects of it (mass shootings, rates of depression/anxiety and other mental health issues, etc. I believe can be traced back to a decline of the family).  Only solution to our societies problems is to strengthen the family unit.

I've been saying it on this board for years the family is the most fundamental unit of our society....strong families > Strong neighborhoods > strong cities > strong counties > strong states > strong country

The children raised in a home where the children are a priority are going to have a HUGE advantage in the world as adults...showing up alone will give them a huge advantage, then because they've been taught how to deal with life and how to work hard, how to be comfortable being uncomfortable, how to deal with rejection, how to communicate, etc. from loving and intentional parents...they'll steamroll the majority of their competition.

Very interesting to read some very intelligent and insightful responses, and open dialogue, between numerous people.

Notice the usual shit starters have stayed out of this subject? Kinda hard to argue against traditional values and the impact of core family structure.

"From my point of view and from what I've seen/heard, TP usa and right-wing organizations in general do hate on people of color, gays, trans and women."

I think the issue is the lefts definition of "hate" relative to the rights definition...

Saying many of the issues negatively affecting black Americans are cultural issues, not societal issues (and not any form of racism), is not hate.  Though the left claims someone who makes that factual statement is hating and a racist.

Saying illegal immigration is an issue, is not racist or hateful...though the left claims it to be.

Calling gender dysmorphia a mental illness, is not hate.  The though left will claim anyone making that factual statement is hating.

Not condoning the teaching of sexuality in elementary schools, or drag queen read-a-thons, or school districts teaching graphic "sex education", is not hate.  Though the left claims that it is.

Refusing to use improper grammar referencing a single individual as "they/them", is not hate...thought the left believes it is.

And it goes on and on...I don't hate anyone...not a single soul on this planet...I have friends that are liberal, LGBTR, minorities, etc. etc....I believe ADULTS can do what they want...but I also believe the majority of issues negatively affecting black Americans are cultural issues, that gender dysmorphia is a mental illness, and sex/sexuality has no place in elementary schools, and "they/them" is multiple people, not one...those adults can't force me to see the world they way they see it, nor can I force them to see it the way that I see it.

Killing someone because you don't agree with the words they say...is hateful though...no doubt about that.

Again, I agree 100% that killing someone who was speaking is not ok, independent of if it was concidered hateful or not.

Supporting bills to not provide care to trans people, saying women shouldn't be in certain positions, the list goes on with why I said "hate".   Also, sex seems to be a big issue and you bring up drag queens. Have drag queens done any shootings or are they hurting people in larger numbers per capita than conservative white men?  I assume you also would hate the bible in school or "forced on kids" since there are adult topics, including sex related passages, in there.

I'm still confused on why most of you say you don't want things "forced on you" but you'll listen to a propaganda machine that spends every day pushing out rhetoric on how you all should feel and view things.

First of all, I’m not an American but Canada is similar in many respects and we know a lot about you. I think what you’re saying is highly problematic. Does anyone remember McCarthy? I don’t think that going after unAmerican people was a great idea then and it isn’t now. It’s actually rather frightening. I’ll address a few things you suggested.

Fundamentalist Islam is awful but not all Muslims are fundamentalists and far from terrorists. I think their religion is false, but I also think Christianity is false. Is atheism also unAmerican? I’d rather not privilege or forbid any religion or lack thereof. If you’re not Catholic, I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if someone deemed Catholicism the true American religion and outlawed birth control. It’s a fundamental principle of your constitution that the government should not establish a religion. I think that’s a very good thing.

I’m a free market capitalist but Marx wasn’t wrong about everything - and his ideas aren’t generally well understood. Marxism, communism , and socialism are not synonymous. But certainly Marx was a socialist. On that note, I think Cooperatives are great ideas and lots of farmers are members of them where I live. They are closer to the socialist ideal of the workers owning the means of production than government ownership. Co-op members own the business and receive patronage dividends on their purchases (often purchasing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of crop inputs). Does the socialist nature of these co-ops mean they’re evil and unAmerican?

I think wokeism is very bad for academic freedom and bad for freedom in general. But by forbidding it you’ve not defeated it. Charlie Kirk was working to defeat it the only feasible way: By using persuasion.

People can do things at odds with American values. I was at a conference where Antonin Scalia said that he abhors flag burning but thinks it’s unconstitutional for it to be illegal. That’s the one and only point of agreement - the constitution. People will disagree about what the constitution means but that’s something to argue about in a robust marketplace of ideas. Then you vote and accept the outcome. What if a Marxist party wins a free and fair election? I’m sure you’d hate it, but there’s plenty of people who hate the current government. It won’t do to say: But I’m right! Everyone thinks that.

People need to accept the fact of disagreement - and that it cuts to the core of our values and conceptions of justice. My criticism of trans activists is that they don’t accept that fact and they insist that everyone should affirm their perspective of the truth. That same criticism can be applied to anyone who wants to impose their views in a way that forbids dissent. I’d wish to avoid totalitarianism regardless of which side of the political spectrum it’s from.

If your solution is to forbid things, that may work when you’re party has power but will be undone if you lose power - either democratically or by force. The consensus underpinning the social contract is based on the ideal of the rule of law and respect for the liberty and autonomy of citizens to the extent consistent with equality and protection from harm. This is a thin consensus based more on a commitment to certain types of political and legal processes than any substantive moral comprehensive framework.  Unless you want to sacrifice liberty, that’s probably the best you can do.

If we can’t agree on a few core American principles we will never have a country anyone values or willing to fight for again.

Thanks for the dialogue!!

We all have a lot to learn. We all see through a glass darkly. Your concern shows you care and are a decent human being.

I also thank you for the dialogue!

Love um or hate um. They had staying power for around 50 years. Honestly, they do have some good songs.
