Do we even have a wheel yet with respect to a SMX playoff format?

Considering its year 3 and no complaints or protests, or open letters from Riders, Team Managers or Manufacturers I would say we have a decent "Wheel" in place. Yes there is always room for improvement, but with riders coming back for the out-doors and the possibility to make a lot of money in 3 races, I don't see what's broken?

Is anybody racing that doesn't want to race?

Ac and JB brought it up today and Ive heard a few others say this, but if SMX is the playoffs where the best of the best go for the championship, then they probably should have whoops. Weege brought up how theres no rule anywhere that says SMX cant have whoops, so why not? Whoops are the great separator. I think that would have to be one of the most obvious tweaks they could make that would make the most sense.

Skip SMX.  The season is long enough the way it is.  17 SX rounds, 12 mx rounds, & mxon.  30 / 52 weekends is enough.

I was waiting for someone to say it.  I'm not a huge fan.  I'd rather end outdoors,  have the gp's wrap up the same weekend or one after, do the nations, and call it a season.

Sure,  an offseason race here or there if you like.  Bercy used to feel special,  so did the us open.

This was clearly a hastily stood up series that really hasn't had a long history of development.

And the only positive agreed upon portion is the bigger purses, which has nothing at all to do with race format.

So yeah, I mean, this thing could move in any direction.

I don’t really like the hybrid tracks where they have a couple sections that are true Supercross rhythms. It sounds horrible for the riders who are forced to ride a stiff setup that isn’t suited to 90% of the track.

The tracks don’t need to have steep Supercross style transitions. A man-made track at a venue is already a hybrid between outdoors and supercross, so just focus on making the best tracks that would make sense for those venues and are basically in between outdoors and supercross in terms of roughness and jumpiness. Don’t try to inject “Supercross” into it just for dumb marketing reasons.

I agree with the Daytona idea. It seems the perfect SMX motocross track.

I'd also like to see it open to top 3 in 250/450 World Motocross riders.

100%, let the paint dry, buff it out later

Racing has been great, why mess with it just yet… having said that it’s too many total races leading up to the “playoffs”. The riders are beat down mentally and physically, it’s unnecessary… give them time to rest gonna be more sprightly in the long run which would be even more parity and better racing
